Question about Sony VAIO Computers & Internet
The button that it is charging lights up when I plug it in, but the screen goes black. It did not happen earlier today, only after i restarted my laptop. I tried it in safe mod and the screen did not go black when it was plugged in.
I had problems with my laptop also. My screen would go black, backlight, I could see my screen if I shined a flashlight on the screen. If I opened the screen quickly I could get it to turn back on.
I replaced the inverter board, as mine was a cfl back light for a lcd. Inverter was weak. That helped but I still had some problems with screen not turning on. I found that I had a magnetic lid close switch. I took a magnet and ran it around the edge of the laptop until I located the switch, would turn off the screen. I rubbed circles with the magnet above the switch, med powered magnet from a magnetic screw holder bowl. So far my laptop shut off problem seems to be fixed. Working very well.
Before I ran the magnet over the switch my computer would also shut off when I pulled out the AC plug. Stopped after magnet. I think something gets magnetized and causes problems and magnet corrects problem. You might try this, couldn't hurt.

SOURCE: Blank Screen on HP Laptop
HP has identified a issue with the DV6000Z and monitor. I just reported the same problem to HP and even though off warranty, they will fix free. Power up of DV6000Z you will get 3 beeps and no monitor display. External monitor does not work either. This is a known issue woth the DV6000Z.

SOURCE: acer 4520 light going dim
Normally the way it works is if you plug in your AC Adapter to a laptop the computer screen will Brighten up since its no longer running off of battery and is actually charging . The reason why it should go dim is when you unplug the Ac adapter it goes dim to save battery life and last longer. If you are getting a really dim you can check and make sure that the Ac adapter jack on the adapter or motherboard isnt loose and it could be having contact to the unit and be loose inside and every small movement causes it not to charge / charge in and out and would cause this Dim effect. Again this depends on how old the computer is and I dont really think its the LCD or backlight going bad but you can try to mess with the screen brightness and If im not mistaken on that model it should be the FN key and the Right > and Left < Key for lower and higher brightness. Give that a try and check the adapter connection and you can pin point the issue . Hopefully it doesnt come worst to worst which could be a bad LCD going bad or damaged lcd internal cable. Hope my answer helped guide you closer to a solution.

This particular model of Hp was shipped with a bad inverter. You can
check out the link below to another forum with users with the same
In order to fix the problem you just need to discount the old inverter and it should work according to what I have read. The link to the manual is listed below.

it could be that the connection jack on the mainboard has been dislodged from the solder joint, common among Gateway comuters and HP units too. is the DC jack loose from the notebook ? if so thats the issue it seems. You will have to bring it to a computer person to resolder. if not and youc an do it yourslef, save money -- but be careful not to damage anything on the mainboard.

Testimonial: "Good to know but when I first look at the Jack it look good and soild, I went and ordered a new one anyways and will relook at it just in case, someone said it might have somthing to do with windows 7 software in the device manager battery control method."
