Does the system have its own speakers? I understood that sound system required speakers to be attached. Check that you put the right model up.

I have a DSC smoke detector model FSA-210BT at home for many years; now it starts beeping once a few minutes, as if it needs battery or servicing. I see there are 2 wires connected to the unit but no

Your smoke detector is probably wired to an alarm system. The beeping probably indicates that the drift compensation is out of calibration. This is usually due to dirt or power issues. The cut sheet from the manufacturer indicates that the drift compensation can be reset after the smoke chamber has been cleaned, but I have never been able to successfully do so in spite of following the instructions. If your alarm system is being monitored, it would probably be best to have the alarm company replace it. If you prefer to do it yourself, make sure you have your system placed on test with the monitoring center before disconnecting anything to prevent an unwanted visit from the fire dept. The connector on the back can be removed from the device without removing the wires...insert the original connector into the new advised that the surge could cause the device to go into alarm, but it should reset at your keypad without a problem. Unless you are completely comfortable doing it yourself, I would recommend having it done by a pro.

I want to know what is needed

There is a control unit that is apart from the keypad. There should be terminals that allow you to connect lights and alarm devices. It would be a big help if we knew the model of the system that you have.

Mzc64 was working fine, one night came home to every zone panel red. now the main panel says zone set up.... what happened and how do I fix it?

I know this is old but the answer may help someone else.

The keypad sounds like the mode 3.1 type commonly used onthe mzc units.

They say 'setup' when the communication between the mzc controller and keypad is lost, ie just the 12volt power is applied or the keypad is set to the wrong channel (channel is set on the back with a small rotary pot).

If its been working andnow isnt working thenthe channel wont be the issue as that wont have changed. Its most likely to be a fault with the cat5 cable between the keypad and the controller in particular the brown pair of wires asuming its wired as per spec, these are the 485 bus wires which carry the communication. The blue wires are infa red the green is earth and the orange is +12v supply.

Try unplugging the failed keypad at the back of mzc on the appropriate zone and swapping it with one of the other keypad connectors on another zone (check on the back of the keypad on the other zone that it is set to the same channel address as the one you ate swapping it with).

If the problem stays on the same keypad then you know the issue is with either the keypad or cable, if the problem moves to the other keypad then the issue is with the main mzc control unit.

If the issue is the controller then it will be a hardware failure which will need repairing by an engineer, i continue to repair these units on a weekly basis and this faulty is rare but could be one of 3 things 1) ribbon cable failue between control board and backplane 2) faulty backplane panel or 3) faulty control ic on control panel.

However its probably cable issue Between keypad and controller.

trust that helps.

Alarm wont sound

If your door is protected by a wireless transmitter your problem is most likely a defective switch or a grounded wire from the switch to the transmitter. To determine if the transmitter is working properly pop off the top of transmitter case by using a small blade screwdriver. If you look on the side of the casing you will see a small slot where the screwdriver is placed. Insert the blade of the screwdriver there and twist. The top of the transmitter will release. Inside you will see a small circuit board and battery. If an external switch is used you will also see 2 wires connected to the circuit board which then leads to the swtch. Using a very small screwdriver remove these wires. Now go check system status at your keypad. If the system recognizes the door as open then your problem is a bad switch or pinched wires that are grounding out the switch. If the keypad's status says the door is still closed the problem is in the transmitter. Sometimes these transmitters will be installed using an internal contact/switch.To know if this is the case on your door you will see only the transmitter mounted on or next to the door and a small magnet within a half inch or so on the opposing side. If this is the case your problem again is the internal switch. For replacement of external switches you can try going to a Radio Shack where they offer an assortment. Hope this helps.

I have two garage door openers, one 1/2 one 3/4, both Liftmaster. Today, all remotes, indiependent and built into the car stopped working. So did the outside keypad. The hardwired buttons still work. I...

It sounds like you may be having some interference. See if this helps.

Certain electrical devices can radiate interference; this could be almost anything that is plugged into an electrical outlet.

Please keep in mind that the device can be brand new, or can be an item that has been in use for quite a while. Also, the item may continue to function properly as far as you are able to tell. The only problem with the item may be that it has started to broadcast the interference, with no other symptoms noted.

Some devices are more likely to generate interference than others. This includes TV cable, cable amplifiers, surge protectors, fluorescent lights, battery charging devices (power tools, golf carts, etc.), anything that utilizes a timer (sprinkler systems, lights, alarm systems, etc.), and a myriad of others. If the problem seems sporadic, we can safely assume that the device responsible for the interference is only being operated during these times. Again, please keep in mind that the age of the device does not determine if it is capable of broadcasting unwanted interference. Any electrical device can be the source of the problem.

On the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go you will see an LED. Random flashing is normal but a rapid steady flash is an indication of interference.

My buttons wont work

i think the moisture has entered into the keypad sensor where it must have shorted the leads on the keypad board...
you should remove the keypad layer and make it dry thoroughly..
i would advise to take it to the service center for curing the keypad asap....if the phone is under warranty you can take it to the customer care
