Question about Krups Caffe Bistro 867 Espresso & Coffee Maker
The coffee is not draining form the pot, it comes out the sides and goes on the counter. We only get a 1/2 pot coffee, the filter is always full of coffee. It seems like the hole where the coffee is coming out of the filter is not opening. An I missing a part. If I take the pot out while it is brewing the coffee does not stop. Thank you

That is the number one failure in these machines. (owned four of them)
The problem is one or both of the "twin" thermal fuses or the thermostat for water
heating and hotplate,( one in the same) has gone open. I have tried for a long time to locate correct replacement parts to no avail. I would STRONGLY not recommend trying to bypass as these are not only controls but a safety feature as well. I was lucky a wile back and found one without a carafe at a garage sale. used it for parts, now those have failed also. Really miss them. If I ever find a source for parts I will post it here with replacement procedure.

SOURCE: I have Krups KT 406
Did you try it this way?
Before descaling, remove the filter holder (f).
• You may use either the Krups descaling solution diluted in 8 ounces of water or
8 ounces of white vinegar.
• Pour the solution or vinegar into the water reservoir and start the coffee machine
• Allow half the liquid to run into the carafe, then switch off and let stand for 1 hour.
• Restart the coffee machine to complete the cycle.
• Rinse the coffee machine by running it through 2 full cycles with water only
I would make vinegar stronger and leave it in for a few hours or more.
I have attached a copy of the owners manual for you to download. Thanks for using FixYa; if you could please click accept solution

Tips for a great answer:

you've got a coffee filter pot as this is the
most common kind (especially as
1. Boil the water.
2. Put the filter (should come with the
pot) into the filter holder.
3. Add 2 level tbsp. of ground coffee
per 6 oz of water.
4. Pour some of the hot water over the
coffee grounds, giving them a few seconds to swell.
5. Now add the rest of the hot water and
allow the coffee to slowly drip through the filter.
6. Remove the filter with the coffee
grounds in just before the final drops of water go through.
7. Now sit down and enjoy!
