My microwave turns on, turntable turns, just won't heat. the microwave is 6 years old. Is it wiser to bring in a repairman or just replace? there is a picture of the microwave by the timer window.

There are 2 fuses inside the cabinet. One is for the clock and turntable. The other is for the high voltage transformer and the microwave module. If this fuse is blown either the transformer is shorted or the module has failed to cause the fuse to blow. Parts and Labor can get close to the cost of a new one, so get an estimate so you can have information to make your decision

Unless your personally attatched to this oven I would recomend you start shopping for a new one. Take the cover off and look for any fuses inside the front door area or on the control board, If they are bad replace them if none there then get a new one as they are more expensive to repair than replace. Most likely your magnatron shorted out and took the circuit with it, but check your house fuse as well on that circuit to be safe. A magnatron runs around 90bucks part only.

the problem could be with 2 component. The diode or the magnetron. normally when the diode goes bad, the microwave will make a humming sound. The microwave will tend to sound almost normal when its the magnetron. Or sometimes it will make a sparking noise when put to heat.

I have LG MS-3444DPS Intellowave Microwave oven. Turntable has had intermittent high pitch squeal and also thumping noise as turn table turns. Turn table has also been very jerky since new. What is the fix...

If you were to take the turntable coaster out and wash it in hot washing up water paying attention to the wheel surfaces, I think that will fix your problem as I suspect the wheels are uneven with deposits stuck to at least one.
Hope this helps.

Display works, turntable turns, but it won't heat.

If it making a loud humming or buzzing noise when it is turned on, it could mean that the magnetron has failed. If that is the case, then it typically not worth fixing, since the cost to repair is almost as much as a new oven.

The turntable makes noise and is jerky as it turns

I believe your turntable is belt driven as opposed to direct drive. Your little belt is nearing the end of its useful life, I think.

Remove the cabinet. Turn the oven on its back. Look at the bottom.

My Sanyo microwave oven is six months old. The turntable has stopped rotating smoothly. Its motion has suddenly become jerky and noisy at the same time. I have given it to the vendor who sold it to me, for...

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty, as long as the problem is not due to grease or liquid spilled down into the motor.
