Hi Keith, it's Jack at Dyson.

If you're unable to close the bin base after emptying your vacuum, it sounds like something is incorrectly fitted or missing. Please ensure the clear bin is firmly attached to the cyclone pack, and that there is no visible damage to the clear bin, the bin base or the cyclone pack.

If you're still not sure, it's probably best if you contact our experts directly so they can take you through some quick troubleshooting checks. We may be able to resolve this issue right over the phone. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

SOURCE: Dyson dc14 vacuum cleaner ,the power, off-on switch does not work

Take it back - the power on switch button sounds like its being tempramental and it shouldn't do that. It would have to be repaired.

SOURCE: dyson DC 14 lost suction to beater bar/ suction to hose/stick

My Dyson DC14 had no suction...see if this works...turn the Dyson upside down...there is a length of hose that connects the bottom of the vacuum to the top, careful remove one end of the hose and check for debris...mine was clogged. Removed the clog and voila...it works. Thanks for the above info on checking the hose for cracks.

SOURCE: Can the canister be washed on a Dyson dc 14? I

the removable part that has the dirt in it can be washed but do not wash the parts that it covers. You could wipe the piece that it covers but do not get water up inside of it whatever you do. You will almost surely void the warranty if it has water damage and you needed to take it in for something. good luck
P.S. you can also wash the foam filter but do not wash the hepa filter.

Suction weak, vacuum seal spring is releases

I would recommend checking the dyson vacuum brushroll first. If there is any hair or thread wrapped around it you are going to want to cut all of that free that way your brushroll can spin freely. I would also recommend checking the filter and washing or replacing that. On the DC 14 that is going to be on the top of the dust canister as well as under the canister if you lift it off of the unit.

Why wont the wand pull out from my Dyson DC 14?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties removing the wand from your DC14. The unusual resistance may be due to a blockage in the hose or U-bend jamming the wand in place. To check everything is correct with your machine, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=666&product=DC14-ANIMAL_US

If you've checked the U-bend is free of blockages but are still unable to remove the wand, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can provide further assistance to help you resolve this.

Kind regards,

Jack

Our Animal DC14 hose unraveled, can we replace it?

Yes you can replace the hose youself. First buy the hose (through Dyson directly or google to see a list of online retailers). All you'd need to do is to unhook the hose from the bottom - you'll remove the canister/dirt bin and push the lower cord hook/cup off the back of the machine from the front and simply click the new hose into place.
