Question about Insignia Digital-to-Analog Converter for Analog TVs

1 Answer

Insignia converter only goes to channel 69.

ABC and CBS are now on 71 and 72. This is AFTER the conversion. Does someone know a solution to this problem? I have a DISH converter in another room and it works fine

I have seen this issue with another brand of DTV converter. The fix for that unit was to use the menu setup for the initial installation instead of just rescanning. This made the converter regenerate the channel table with the correct channel numbers.

We have an antenna, digital converter box, and digital tv. Can only get 5 channels. No nbc, abc, cbs. Get the message indicator available for digital broadcasting only

You should be able to use the box remote and select channel search mode. As it searches, you will see it "hit" available channels and store them. When channel search is finished, you should see a picture displayed. if no results, there is something wrong with the antenna, the way it is connected to the box, the way the box is connected to the TV, or the way the TV is connected to the box. You may have to reread the instructions to find what is at fault.

Why does the signal go bad intermittently during a tv program?

Local interference or a drifting signal caused by being in a fringe area, receiving an additional signal from a reflecting source intermittently (such as when a train goes past nearby, a low flying aircraft or even a large truck) or a number of other possibilities.
Even a strong wind deflecting an aerial a little can be the guilty party.

Too much signal can be as bad for digital reception as insufficient signal.

A signal strength meter can be an inexpensive way to detect the source of your trouble.

I can't see NBC with the digital conveter box

Is it only NBC? Or are the other over air channels (ABC, CBS, Fox) also not seen?

Are you going through a splitter with the incoming signal? if so, make sure the splitter frequency range is at least 5 to 1000 Mhz.

You should see the 'temporary lost signal' wording on the channel. Check all cable connections to make sure the cable to connector plug are tight and not loose.

Cannot get abc channel since conversion

Hi, I am in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market. Since the change over, we have last 4 channels. They are broadcasting over a lower signal until they change their big antennas. This is suppose to take until the end of July. This could be what is happening where you are at.

Installed Insignia box, keep getting No Signal

You need a stronger antenna. Many of the VHF channels moved over to UHF thus if your current antenna doesn't pick up UHF, you will not pick up those channels.

Cannot get local channels back after dropping cable.

Are you positive that your city has not done the Digital Conversion? Some Cities are doing it early before the February deadline. Also make sure you are tuning in to the correct channels. Meaning that if on your Cable Provider ABC was on Channel 3 that does not mean that ABC with still be on Channel 3 after you have your Cable turned off. Most of the Time the Local Stations Tag will let you know what channel its on. It will be something like "KWAS ABC 27" So on your TV you would Tune it to channel 27 to get ABC and the same fore NBC , FOX, CBS , etc...
I hope this helps Take Care =)

Sound problems with Insignia Flat Screen 37

It may be that the set is set for alt sound. go to the menu and set the audio to stereo. If the audio is set wrong it thinks you are set for spanish and if the broadcast is not in an alt language there will be no sound.

Don't get ABC or NBC local channels anymore

ATSC tuners ("D/A converters") pick up signals off the air just like old school television. It sounds like you are just not getting a signal of sufficient strength. A weak analog signal looks like a "snowy" picture, which most of us are used to. But, the new digital channels quickly go from a perfect picture to none at all. It's basically all-or-nothing.

Try attaching an antenna to your converter. I know you can buy a new antenna from your local big box electronics store which is labeled "Terrestrial HDTV" or something, but that really doesn't mean anything. You can use any old TV antenna. Even a quality FM antenna (with an F-Pin coax connection) may work just fine.

When setting up the antenna, keep in mind that different channels are transmitted from different towers, in different locations with different strengths. Move the antenna placement and position around (just like grandpa had to do). You may have to make a compromise to get the best signal for your favorite channels.
