SOURCE: Does a VP-719xl support hdmi signal thru the DVI

in theory yes as it should have a dvi digital interface. so with the right hdmi to dvi cable the 719xl should work as you require. resolutions of 1600 x 1024 should be possible.

A connection between a westinghouse hdmi to mac 11'. i have a cable but now TV works just not the connection to the mac. mac works.

OK, Sylvia Miller, let me see if I got the question correct.
You are having a problem when you connect your Mac (have no idea which model thou) to your TV, and your TV is not showing, or mirroring your Mac, is that correct?
If this is what you mean, I'll post some guidelines to follow.
1. Make sure that the port you're using to mirror the Mac match from input of the TV. It means that if you connect the cable to HDMI 1, the go to your TV menu, press input or source in the remote control and take it to HDMI 1.
2. If the TV recognize the connection, on the top bar of your Mac you should notice a triangle, when you click on it, you will have the option to activate mirroring. If there is no triangle the it means that the TV did not recognize the connection from the Mac.
3. Tweak and mess around with the Thunderbolt cable. These cables are far from perfect. Once you plug it in, move it around, some times it does;t make a very good connection.
I think that's just about it. Best of luck.

I am a new Netflix subscriber. How do I stream Netflix directly to this tv OR can I watch by connecting my Mac laptop to it?

There are a many of ways to get web based video services such Netflix to play through your TV. Here are a couple of options:

Smart TV
If your TV is internet connected, aka a Smart TV, check to see if it has an app store. If it does, you may be able to download a Netflix app. This would be the simplest solution, but it depends on the make and model of your TV.

Laptop connection
Another option would be to connect a laptop to the TV. There are many different ports on TVs and laptops that would allow this, but the best is HDMI. If both your TV and laptop have an HDMI port (see image below), all you will need is an HDMI cable, which will send both audio and video to your TV screen.

If you are connecting to a Mac laptop, you may need to also buy a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter, as it won't have an HDMI port (like this: https://www.google.co.uk/shopping/product/5192447439763568219?q=minidisplay+to+HDMI&client=safari&rls=en&biw=1676&bih=965&bav=on.2,or.&bvm=bv.102537793,d.ZGU&tch=1&ech=1&psi=QN33VfqMAYby7Ab_6qG4Dw.1442307394062.3&prds=paur:ClkAsKraX0pVPThuey23Srq9Ni_I1I497aSKk8rY4JC4_ySC7L3SoqcfyibhUrNSsi4lj2apkyi2UhS6HB9sic5F2oBlMA09OIsZh8_AaCdvPuzTrvpk0EwkUxIZAFPVH72CvQDOisudiScB7fI-lYiLPKVSkA&ved=0CAQQpitqFQoTCLnQrODV-McCFUg52wodDiUCJA&ei=RN33VbmeMcjy7AaOyoigAg)

Connecting my macbook pro to digitrex tv using thunderbolt and hdmi

DisplayPort to HDMI Sound is actually set up by using the MIDI setup utility found in :
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.
If you purchased an iWires cable direct from Apple the instructions are in the printed booklet that comes in the packaging. Most people don't read this as it's normally the case that when you plug a cable in to anything it just works (VCR, TiVo, Xbox, video camera etc). In this instance Apple are failing to live up to their catch-phrase as final setup is NOT intuitive; "it just DOESN'T work".
The booklet instructions basically say do the following,
Video
System Preferences > Displays. There are 3 tabs in the window; Displays, Arrangement and Color. Be sure you are on the Displays tab. Bottom left of the window tick "Show displays in menu bar" and then bottom right click "Detect Displays".
Now click on the tab named Arrangement. Bottom left of the window tick "Mirror Displays".
You should now only see 2 tabs, Display and Color. Be sure you are on the Displays tab. Select the desired resolution for your TV (probably 1080i). leave all other settings at their default values.
Sound
System Preferences > Sound. There are 3 tabs in the window; Sound Effects, Output and Input. Be sure you are on the Sound Effects tab. Middle of the window select your TV where it says "Play sound effects through:".
Select the middle tab named Output.
Select your TV from the drop-down list next to HDMI, below where it says "Select a device for sound output".
Using either Finder or Launchpad go to Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.
On the left-hand side of the window you should now see HDMI. In the middle of the window, on the Output tab, where it says "Source:" select your TV from the drop-down list.
This last action below is NOT described in the iWires notes but was required in my case, it may also be required in yours. If you CANNOT see a speaker icon next to HDMI in the list on the left, do the following:
Bottom left of the window select the wheel icon with the down-pointing triangle. Make sure that sound output is selected and that you can now see a speaker icon next to HDMI in the list of devices.
If you still cannot hear sound, log out of your account and then log back in.
You will now have sound coming out of your TV from your computer happy.gif
You may have to do some or all of the above to get sound out of your TV from your computer using the DisplayPort to HDMI cable. On my Aug 2011 MacbookPro I had to do ALL of the above. If you take your laptop to a different TV you will have to do it all again so be warned.
Hope this helps.

How do I connect a laptop to this tv?

It will depend on the laptop's available external video ports. You can connect a VGA cable from some laptops to the VGA port on the TV. Then plug in a 3.5 mm audio cable from the headphone jack to the PC audio in port. (The audio connection is optional. You could continue using the laptop's speakers.)

Make the connections with the TV and the laptop off. You may need to enter the BIOS to enable the external video port. (It can be turned off to save power. The BIOS is accessed on boot by pressing a key (Esc, F1, Del) noted on the splash screen. For Win8 machines, you'll need to do a special restart.) Then turn on the TV before turning on the computer. The TV monitor should be automatically recognized for resolution and refresh rate. Next, if you have a Windows system, right click on the desktop (pick a spot with no icons or running programs). Click on Screen Resolution (or perhaps Graphics Properties, depending on the OS). Set the monitor to duplicate the screens or send data only to the TV screen.

I'm not sure if the HDMI ports will understand a computer signal. (Not all TVs can interpret the computer's HDMI signal; it is different than that of other set top boxes.) You can try the following connections.
If your laptop has a DVI output, use a DVI to HDMI cable (or adapter) to connect to the TV. Then connect the HDMI cable to HDMI 1 and use the PC audio connection as above.
For an HDMI output, use an HDMI cable. (You will still need the audio cable unless you can reset the audio signal to output on the HDMI port. Go to the Control Panel and then the Hardware and Sounds section. Under Sound, select Manage audio devices. Then in the Playback tab, make the HDMI audio the default.) For Display Port or Thunderbolt outputs on the laptop, you will need a DP to HDMI adapter.

If the HDMI port doesn't understand the computer signal, you'll need to use a converter to go from the computer's output to component video or to VGA. Then connect the converter's output to the appropriate port on the TV.

I hope this helps.

(To access the Control Panel in Windows 7 and earlier versions, click Start and then find the Control Panel in the right hand column. For Windows 8, press the Windows key + X (or access the Charms menu on the right-hand side (Win+C) and choose Settings). Then select the Control Panel.)

I connect it to my MacBook Pro using a USB cable but it doesn't communicate

You can't use a USB port for a projector, unless the video bit rate is extremely poor.

you will need to use hdmi, dvid, or thunderbolt

Sound won't play through Onkyo TX-SR605 when using HDMI

The chances are that you have selected an incorrect sound setting or not switched it on, for the HDMI you are using. With Onkyo receivers each connection will have it own settings for video and sound. You just need to look in the manual as to how to select the settings.

I have a macbook and want to hook up to my dynex 24 inch tv. I am successful using (mini dvi to dvi to hdmi) connection to the tv receiving great video. My problem is that I have no been able to get audio...

Your mac would have to have a fully hd compliant mini port. To be honest I havent even checked to see if any do. Then you would want to get a mini video port to HDMI adapter. If you don't have one of the newer Intel mac then chances are you cant do sound through that port, which is what your tv is looking for on the hdmi port.

Easiest solution is to hook your headphone port on your laptop to a stereo or some decent computer speakers, which usually sound better than tv speakers anyway.
