When power button is pressed, the screen attempts to come up. It then just flashes the timer L.E.D.with not picture.

This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. I have your service manual but I can't find any reference to 9 flashes, are you sure it is 9 with out a pause?

1. Place set on flat solid surface (garage floor or driveway).
2. Bang into it with SUV 3 or 4 times.
3. If set fails to respond, crush against garage wall or drive over it

A reset won't fix this. The standby light should be blinking a repeated count with a 3 second pause inbetween. Post that count here. That will indicate the circuit/condition that is preventing the set from turning on.

Please update this with the blink count. That will indicate the circuit in which a problem was found. Once I have that information I should be able to give you the probable cause and remedy.
