Testimonial: "Dear jrdutton, Thank you for taking the time to give me an answer. I still have the same problem though. As I can't turn on my TV, I can't access the "screen with the list of problems" they talk about in the manual. So I still don't know what is a horizontal fault and how to fix it :/"

This is the best I can find. Sounds like you'll have to have it serviced. https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/de...

SOURCE: Four blinking red lights.

you can have the inverter board replaced...instead of the entire panel.
KDL 40S2010: inverter part # 178950032, you will also need 2 spacers..part # 289765511
you're looking @ 200-300$ for the inverter and 5-10$ a piece for the spacers.

KDL-46V2500: inverter part # A1251295B
you're looking @ around 500-600 $ for the part

SOURCE: Four blinking red lights.

Either on of the backlight inverter boards is bad or a backlight has failed inside the panel.

SOURCE: Flashing Standby Light (6 times every 2 second interval)

A 6 flash error indicates a problem with the backlight. Your set is less than a year old and still in warranty, so you should contact Sony and arrange for a service call to get it repaired.

SOURCE: Sony Bravia KDL-40V3000 standby light blinking

I just worked on this last week 13 blinks means there is a problem with the backlights. So it can be 1 of 2 things bad inverter board( which costs less than $200) or the panel in which case you can thow the TV away as it will probably cost as much for a new TV.Unfortunately the set I worked on ended up being panel. If you try the inverter board just take your time removing it its plugged in rather tight I gently tapped it out with a screwdriver to get it started.

Standby red led blinks three times

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. Bus clock and/or data lines low at power on. 6 blinks of standby light denotes this. Actually, it should be a motherboard problem. Your TV need a thorough checkup before confirmation. If you wish to get more details about the blinking codes to Sony TVs, check this link.
