Question about Televison & Video
Hi, Samsung hitron 50cm (CS50F2) refers -On switch-on, the screen is quite bright as if the'brightness' has been turn full. Can see the fly-back line in white. The text (eg when pressing menu) seems to be blurred, out of focus. I am an electronics technician, was hoping to investigate myself? Any pointers, besides taking it to a repair-shop? Thanks Gert
Check the screen voltage. Adjust it to a little lower and check. Check the supply voltage to its video output stage [CRT base card]. If this voltage is less than normal, this kind of fault can occur. Check the smoothing capacitor [the electrolytic capacitor of low capacitance value] is bad. If it is bad, the voltage stated above will go low,and the retrace lines will be visible. Check these.
The fault you now see is technically called vertical retrace lines with picture. The above said are the main causes for this.

SOURCE: TV focusing problem
It's good that you know how TV's can bite, I'll still have to post this in case someone having your problem and reading isn't aware of this and feels lucky- If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages. could be a problem with the screen potentiometers block. should be located on the chassis close to where the HT lead passes on its way to the picture tube. Good luck

SOURCE: Late turn on

SOURCE: White Lines and Bright Screen
I believe you have a shorted transistor on the crt board on the back of the picture tube which should be Q5104. Let me tell you my experience with these Zenith's The original problem is the picture tube shorting out and caused this problem. If you replace the transistor the same problem could arise again because of the tube and it could even knock out the main board power supply. I have seen this happen. And I have put in the transistor and no problem. You can get one at the Radio Shack by taking the bad one out and get them to cross reference it for you. All Zenith transistors have a prefix number (not on the transistor) which is 121- (with the dash!) and the number on the transistor The new one must go back in the way it came out! I recommend someone with electronic soldering and desoldering experience. Hope this helps
