Transformer board. Do you have any power after the transformer/transformers?
If so, the board is faulty. If not the transformer is. Either way it's a new board unless you have a good supplier and **** good eyes.

I have a Polaroid 40" model number TLA04011C. It is currently at a tv-repair shop and the technician informed me that the problem with the tv is a transformer on the power supply board is out and nee

ShopJimmy likely has the power supply board with the best price, otherwise discount-merchant.com.

However I have one the I am currently looking at where the power supply board was the original issue, and after going over it throughly, the real problem was numerous bad solder joints from the factory. The silver solder is deceptive at times because a joint may look good or passable, but is actually faulty. More often what is seen is called " cold solder joints" where the solder crystalized upon cooling.

Unless the transformer is actually visibly scorched, the transformer may just be suffering from bad solder joints on the PC board, or even on the wires where they attach on the header leads. (This by the way was the main problem on early Macintosh computers having a bad solder joint where the winding attached to the header lead, so this is nothing new)

It does lead to an ugly repair in some cases, but once corrected, it is no longer something to worry about.

If there happens to be a drilled circuit trace- that is probably a factory revision. Try it "as-is" and see if it comes to life.

Fitnex t60 display says prg bad, what does that mean and how can i repair it

1) You must test first the power supply for +5DC for I.Circuit( Including EPROM, ROM, etc)
2) Test the flexible cable between KeyPanel and display board, and clean.
3) Chechk the connector between Display Board with the lower board(Main Controller Motor)for loose connection, loose wire.
4) Test the transformer controller supplying the 12VCA, to the power supply at the Main Controller Board since this supply the +5vd to the Display Board.
Finally you must have Strong Conclusion if the problem is 1)Display Board faulty, 2) Power supply Faulty, 3) Transformer Controller Faulty 4) Main Controller Board Faulty.

For All test you must use Dvoltmeter.

The lcd when swicthed on it display for a second and went blank again, but the audion is good

hi,
You have to check the backlight inverter board of your TV. If any one of the chopper transformer ( high voltage transformer) is faulty then the inverter board will consume more current from the power supply. This will sense by the protection circuit and will deactivate the voltage to the inverter board. Some times faulty electrolitic capacitors in the power supply or in the invereter board can can lead to this type of problem. First of all check the electrolityic capacitors. If any one of the capacitors in the power supply or in the inverter board seen budging on the top repace the same. If the problem remains then you have to replace the backlight inverter board.
ok

Sound but no picture

you have a inverter problem. 1- the inverter board itself with component failure, possible high voltage transformer. 2- a faulty ccfl. any fault here will shut down the inverter power as a safety percausion.
sending inverter board for repair will only check that board itself is faulty, thus moving on to check CCFL's with in the backlighting of the screen.

It can be the problem with the transformer. Try replacing it with another one.

The way the circuit works is in a mirror format. There are 2 identical circuits that go to each end of the board.

Be sure to check that fuse for continuity, not just for a second like you normally would, but hold it for a good 10 seconds.
Also don't forget while you are in there it's best to repolace it anyway with an actual fuse. A 3A slow blow ceramic is good for this.
Check the 4 transformers as well, if you notice the top circuit is the faulty one, then check the transformers at the top. The transistors are quite powerful, and normally need something to trigger them into failing. Do the same for the bottom circuit.

This monitor came in 2 formats. One with 4 transformers and 4 CCFL tubes, one with 2 transformers that lead to 2 CCFL connectors powering 2 tubes each (3 wires per CCFL)

When you order the 2SC5707's get extras just to be on the safe side. If it goes again, then turn the monitor off immediatly and check them. It should only be 1 failed again, so just see which of the 2 transformers it was primarily attached to and replace it, or both.
