Try gently turning the wheel left or right as you try to shift. Truck starts ok I assume. Also apply brake. Maybe the switch thT tells it the brake is pushed is bad
Reset the shift linkage with in park on transmission.Loosen the lock nut at the rod to column and set the shifter to park position.Tighten the nut and your good.Same thing if floor shift.
CHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH MAKE SURE BRAKE LIGHTS IS ON.IF NO CHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FUSE IF POWER GOING TO BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AND BRAKE LIGHTS DONT WORK REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.IF BRAKE LIGHTS WORKING.PROBLWM COULD BE IN BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID.REASON I SAY CHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH.WHEN YOU DEPRESS BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE TRANSMISSON SHIFT SOLENOID ENERGIZE SO YOU CANT GET CAR OUT OF PARK.
did you push the brake pedal when tring to shift out of park. if yes try turning the steering wheel to the right or left when shifting.( this may require alot of force when turning the wheel
I am having the same problem with my 05 Altima. For a temporary rememdy we took stuck a key down into the release hole in front of the gear shift. There may be a little cover over the hole, but if you take it off and stick something in it, it will release the shifter.
