hello, check cables, and linkage, if clutch was bad, it wouldnt go into any gear, while running. or also turn off motor, put car in gear and see if you can push it, see if it is in gear, or you can push the bug, if it is in gear, and you can push car, either trans is bad or linkage needs to be adjusted,clutch could be slipping
