According to: http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Windows-Live-Mail-2011-Guide.html, check your Outbox: "Outbox. A temporary waiting area for outgoing emails, which is used by all your email accounts"

I am using windows 7 and windows live mail with Cannon MP240. when scanning to email i get the message "failed to send email. check you mail program settings" I have updated printer drivers.

> check your mail program settings

Updating your printer's device-drivers will not be helpful.

Within Internet Explorer:
click File
point at Send
click Link by E-mail

This should open your "E-mail program".
Check the settings, e.g. "outgoing SMTP server".

Hi Friend,

To fix this problem kindly follow the steps:

1.Before proceeding be sure to backup your email in your Windows Live Mail Client.
2.Open your Windows Live Mail Client.
3.On the toolbar click on "Tools", and go to "Accounts".
4.In the accounts window click on "add". Select email account, and click on "next".
5.Enter your email address you are having problems with, your correct password, and display name.
6.Before you click the next button, click "Manually configure server settings for email account. Now click Next.

Be sure that POP3 is the server.

7.For incoming server enter: pop3.live.com and for outgoing enter: smtp.live.com.
8.Select "This server requires a secure connection (SSL), and "My outgoing server requires authentication".
9.Click next, then click finish.

This will now create you a new email account, and box. You can choose to copy, or move all your email, and delete the previously closed box, or keep both.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

I can recieve an E Mail But can not send one

Which is ur e-mail client i.e. r u using outlook express or windows mail or windows live mail in order to send & receive emails from ur e-mail Id????
If yes then i think u might not have set the correct address of the SMTP server of ur mail client while configuring windows mail or outlook express or windows live mail on ur notebook-->SMTP server enables u to send e-mails-->anyways follow these steps to set the correct SMTP server address:
open the outlook express or windows mail or windows live mail-->Click on 'tools' option-->then click on the option 'accounts'-->a window will open with a list of accounts or only one account depending on the number of accounts u have configured with outlook express-->select the account from which u can receive mail but cant send one-->if u r not sure which account it is then most likely it would be the default one-->After selecting the particular account click on 'properties'-->properties window will open up-->select the 'servers' tab-->under 'server information' u will find 'outgoing mail(SMTP)'-->fill the proper address of the SMTP-->u will find the proper address of the SMTP server thru google also ensure that u have selected the 'My server requires authentication' checkbox on the 'servers' tab itself-->if u r using gmail then search for the SMTP address of gmail in google & same for the others also such as yahoo, rediff etc.

I can recieve email but I cant send any email out

If you can successfully receive e?mail messages, but can't send messages, then Windows Mail is having problems connecting to the outgoing e?mail server that's used to send messages. These are likely possibilities:
  • If you've never been able to send e?mail successfully using Windows Mail, your e?mail account is probably not set up properly. First, follow the steps to verify your e?mail account information in the "I can't receive e?mail" section of this help topic. If you verify that your e?mail account information is entered properly, you might need to change your authentication settings so that when sending mail, you sign in using your e?mail user name and password. Check with your e?mail provider to see if it requires authentication for sending e?mail.
To use authentication when sending e?mail
    1. Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.
    2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.
    3. Under Mail, click your e?mail account, and then click Properties.
    4. Click the Servers tab, and then, under Outgoing Mail Server, select the My server requires authentication check box.
    5. If the account information that you use to send e?mail is not the same information that you use to receive messages, click Settings, click Log on using, and then enter the user name and password that you use to send e?mail.
  • Many Internet service providers (ISPs) require you to be directly connected to their network to use their outgoing e?mail servers. If you're using a mobile PC and connect to the Internet using a different ISP (such as when using a wireless connection in a hotel), you might be able to receive, but not send, e?mail. Some ISPs will allow you to send e?mail when connected to a different provider if you use authentication when sending. Follow the previous steps to use authentication when sending e?mail. If your ISP doesn't allow this, you'll need to find out the name of the outgoing mail server for the ISP you're currently using, and then change the settings in Windows Mail to use it.
To change the outgoing mail server settings
    4. Click the Servers tab, and then enter the new mail server in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) box.
    5. If the new outgoing mail server requires authentication, under Outgoing Mail Server, select the My server requires authentication check box.
    6. Click Settings, click Log on using, and then enter the user name and password for the outgoing mail server.

G'day,

All of the documentation on the westnet.com.au site shows that your "Outgoing mail server" should be set to "mail.westnet.com.au", not "mail.wn.com.au". Please check both of your accounts in Windows Live.

If this doesn't fix your proble, could you please repost the settings for your two accounts so that I can compare them?
