Question about Toshiba Satellite L305-S5933 Notebook

1 Answer

Cannot use wireless mouse or laptop pad for cursor functions.

I have a satellite L305-S5933 that has locked on me. I have shut it down and restarted it. I can log on but that's about it. On the logon window it says the computer is locked, and I have no idea how that happened.I can use the pad to move the cursor, and the enter key to open windows. But as far as doing anything else I cannot. The windows will open, but will not allow me to close them.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me.

Thanks for the quick response. I was hoping it wasn't something I did, but I wasn't expecting that this was a known problem and wasn't informed of this when I bought it. Thanks agsin

Rosemary,

This is a very common problem with many Toshiba laptops.

The cause is the bios on the motherboard.

The best way to get the computer working again is to contact a local authorized Toshiba center.

They are still repairing the problem for FREE.

So make sure you don't pay!

Here's a link to Toshiba's repair center finder.

Make sure you call them FIRST before taking your computer to them.

Best of luck!

Black screen won start

Look for a brightness up/down arrow in the F1 - F12 buttons on top of your keyboard.

Try tapping on the up arrow for brightness, also try tapping it while holding the Fn (function) key of your keyboard.

If it seems like no power is going to your screen, you may need a new screen or a computer technician to look at it. If someone you know is good at hardware, have them check the power connection before paying a store or technician.

Hi, I suggest that the function key F9 has been pressed, this locks out the pad. To turn the pad on again, press F whilst holding the function (Fn) key down). Regards, Brainschee

My Toshiba Satellite Notebook is only showing a blue screen with the cursor in upper left hand corner blinking.

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

Sounds like a corrupt bios to me. Download the latest for your particular laptop from the Tosh site and create a bootable usb with the relevant flash file. Restart and then try to access the bios again from F2

My son's toshiba Satellite L305-S5933 keyboard has just developed some non-functioning keys. Several just don't work any longer. No spillage.

No spillage, has the computer been dropped? the saudering under the key itself may have separated from the button itself. Try a can of 'air' and clean out any loose matter that may be between the keys in the keyboard first. Then if it's still not functioning, try lifting off the key button (one at a time) to see if you can see the direct connection and verify if its still connected. Try the air first. hope this helps.

Touch pad failed.

Look along the top of the keyboard for an "f key" that shows a "touch pad" icon, IF you see it, press the "function key" (along the bottom of the keyboard) PLUS at the same time the "f key" (that you found along the top) and that should "toggle" the touch pad back on....
Also, IF you plug in a USB mouse that will allow you to move the cursor around--but the USB mouse doesn't fix your touch pad problem.
Hope this helps.
