Sounds like your hard drive may be faulty. Run the manufacturers free hard drive diagnostic software (from CD or USB drive to test)

My safe to remove icon has dissappeared how can re install it please

Which operating system ?????????

The system tray in Windows XP is the right side of the small blue bar at the bottom of the screen that houses the clock and a few other small icons. You can add icons to the system tray for ease of access, including the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon, which allows you to easily remove hardware from your computer.

Turn on the Windows XP computer and right-click the taskbar. Select "Properties" from the menu that appears. Check "Hide Inactive Icons", then select "Customize" A new window appears with all of the icons currently on the system tray, along with icons also for some programs that don't appear on the tray. Click next to the icon "Safely Remove Hardware," then check the box "Always Show". Click "Apply". Safely Remove Hardware Icon?

I have changed sparkplugs but now i smell gas

If you have 1 sticking up proud to the others you appear to have Boo Booed. Gently remove the offender. Examine the Plug Thread and you will notice an Out of Sync twist across the leading thread throw. Use an old plug with some grease on to recut the Port access thread. Take out a good threaded plug, which is accessible and with a visual on the job, ease the damaged plug into that port with a film of oil on the threads. The good plug remaining put in where the original was boo booed.
Any problems, come back!

Entering BIOS settings, Easy-Access, after POP, with external KB

The Power On Password problem is near impossible to crack. It is designed to prevent unauthorized access to the Thinkpad and removing the BIOS battery will not remove the password because the password is stored on an EEPROM chip.
There are no backdoor passwords available, the only option is to ask the person who set the password.
OR
There is a way to hack into the Thinkpad to see and remove the password but it requires electronic skills, a program and a working computer.
For details on how to do this go to :-

Yesterday, when I powered up my laptop, everything was all of a sudden enlarged ( the desktp, icons, internet, text, e-mails, EVERYTHING). I know this is probably supposed to be some kind of useful tool...

Hi,

Your enlarged desktop could be caused by several different things, so I will address each one in the order of likelihood of each one:

1. You may have accidentally changed your Display Settings.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. Scroll down and click on Display Settings. Ensure that your Monitor Resolution is set for the maximum. If not, use your mouse to move the slider bar all the way to the right.

2. You may have accidentally changed the size of text and icons.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down the screen, select Make the computer easier to see. Click on Change the size of text and icons about half way down the screen. If it is not selected, chose the default scale.

3. You may have accidentally turned on the Magnifier.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down the screen, select Make the computer easier to see. About half way down the screen, uncheck the Turn on Magnifier.

To turn off the On-Screen Keyboard on start-up,
right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down, select Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard. Unselect Use On-Screen Keyboard.

To turn off the Narrator on start-up, right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About a third of the way down, select Use the computer without a display. Unselect Turn on Narrator.

I hope this helps. If so, please remember to rate my post.

Thanks!
