Question about Xerox WorkCentre 3550

I have connected my laptop to my WorkCentre 3550 and loaded all the necessary software for the two to work together. They just don't seem to talk to one another. I open a document, chose to print, a

I'm able to make great copies on the machine...just replaced the toner cartridge (there's a strange-to-me piece of white plastic and foam with symbols for its use but it's indecipherable to me), fuser assembly, and cleaned the glass (did I miss something I could have cleaned?). Would sure like to print from my computer. Have not used the scan and fax functions - that will be a later project. Thanks again, GARY

Hi Gary. I presume that you use the USB type connection for your printer. In your computer appears the message that indicate the detection of a new hardware?

You can also look for dealer service which is much more reasonable.
And also access secondary parts sources such as The Parts Drop online. Precision Rollers and several other sources.
Xerox will charge you an arm and a leg. There are many other sources to repair a 580 fax.
That is a very good product.

Start by trying this.
NOTE: Perform the following procedure to reset the Drum Cartridge counter after you replace the Drum Cartridge. Do not perform this procedure at any other time.

  1. From the Standby Mode, press the [Menu] (up arrow) button, then press [5], [2], [0], [4]. The screen will display: Change drum.
    1. Yes
    2. No
  2. Press [1], then press [Enter]. The screen will display: Completed.
  3. Press [Stop] to return to the Standby Mode.
If that doesn't work try this. You may not be able to perform step 1 but that's ok.

Any documents stored in memory due to an error condition will print after the error is corrected. The errors may be: 'paper tray(s) out of paper,' 'paper jam,' or 'out of ink'.
  1. Print a Pending Jobs report to determine what types of jobs are in memory. Press the [Menu] (up arrow) button, then press [2], [2].
  2. If there is a job with the status of Resend Stored Fax, turn off the Resend Stored Fax feature to delete the job.

    To turn off Resend Stored Fax:
    1. From the Standby Mode, press the [Menu] (up arrow) button, then press [5], [3], [0], [4].
      The screen will display: Resend stored fax
      1. On
      2. Off
    2. Press [2] to disable the feature.
    3. Press [Exit] or [Stop] when the menu selection screen displays to return to the Standby Mode.
  3. Print the ITU-T mailbox report to determine if there are any mailbox documents. From the Standby Mode, press the [Menu] (up arrow) button, then press [2], [4].
  4. Print any documents stored in an ITU-T Mailbox:
    1. From the Standby Mode, press the [Menu] (up arrow) button, then press [1], [8].
      The screen will display: Mailbox
      1. Confidential
      2. Bulletin board
      3. Relay request
      4. Setup & delete
    2. Press [1] to select Confidential mailbox, or [2] to select Bulletin board mailbox.
      The screen will display: Confidential (or Bulletin board)
      1. Print mailbox
      2. Send to mailbox
      3. Poll from mailbox
      4. Store to mailbox
      5. Delete contents
    3. Press [1] to print from the selected mailbox.
      The screen will display: Box number (20 max)
    4. Use the numeric keypad to enter the mailbox number, then press [Enter]. NOTE: If you entered a password when creating the Confidential Mailbox, you must enter that password now to print the document.
    5. Enter the password if required, then press [Enter].

The process unit is your drum,toner, and developer unit. It sits right under the top cover. Big black removeable cartridge.

the problem is in the scanner, open it up and see if you can find any smudges, and clean any obstruction, any ink, liquid eraser residuals, can cause this part to appear as lines on your copied faxed image.
dont concentrate on the printer this is a scanner problem

This sounds like the cartridges are not seating proplerly in their position. They have ground straps on the sides make sure they are in place correctly.<br /> <br /> It was mentioned when printing from memory the copies are not good quality. This indicates cartrige problems, or power supply problem.<br /> <br /> The power supplies on these machines are pretty reliable, but one can fail at any given point in time.<br /> Try changing the cartridge with a new one, even the toner cartrige.<br /> Look in the menu button for a maintance menu.<br /> There might be a clean test pattern check. Run this process with a white sheet of paper and then try making a copy and see if this helps any.<br /> Good luck.<!-- from fixya rte -->

How do I change the cartridge region from a xerox workcentre 3550

The toner cartridges have a small CRUM chip fixed on the end of each tube. If you change them from a previously empty cartridge then it will still show empty. You just can't fool them.

I'll assume your printer is wasting paper.
Firstly remove the paper, that should stop it, then try and enter Centreware, check the website as to how to do that. From there you will have more control from there.
Replace the paper as a check, and hopefully the problem will be sorted.

My workcentre 3550 multifunction printer is constantly printing a configuration report, how do I fix that?

Please remove the paper and see what happens next.
Open up the print driver and look to see if the queue is full of prints not sent, If so, delete them from there.
Check over the information the configuration page if any thing looks irregular.
Check the settings against the copy first printed when the printer was first installed, it might be tucked inside the machine panels.
This problem looks like finger trouble to me. Further investigation is needed. When your sure everything is as it should be, replace the paper in the tray again.

Installation of HP deskjet 3550 in Windows 7

If you have the disk it should self install once you put the software disk in. If you don't have the disk go to and then click on support. There you will find a driver and download link and can download your software there. Depending on what antivirus you are using you may need to disable it in order to install the software.

I have a Xerox WorkCentre Pro 412 and I'm tring to hook my computer and it together and it reply back that its not digital and a freind told me i had to down load something toget it to work can you help me...

You can only print to a 412 with a parallel cable. You can not use the USB port, That is for software upgrades.
You can go to, click on support and drivers, then in the search enter wcp412, click search then click Downloads and drivers, DOwnload both the PCL Print Driver and also its good to have control center on your computer.
The print driver is all you need to have to print ot the machine once you have the parallel port connected. When you select the driver and it starts loading you want to load it to a LPT1 port.
