LCD monitor work based on backlight illumination, they have a fluorescent tube of high intensity usually located at the bottom ot top of the monitor sometimes they may even have two of these one on each side or on top and on the bottom of the screen, this tubes illuminate the screen from the side into the LCD device. The lights are powered by a high voltage switching power supply. A number of things may happen that can cause the symptons you are experiencing. You may have a bad high voltage power supply (locvated inside the laptop body or sometimes depending on the model inside the actual LCD lid.), you may also have a bad light tube or a bad flat cable that connects from the power supply to the LCD lid. Usually is not worth to pay for a repait like this as it is time consuming to dissasemble the whoel laptop to fix or replace any of the components involved in this. If you want a fast and cheaper solution, get a cheap LCD monitor and conenct it to the external RGB port of yoru laptop if you want to keep using it. Otherwise look for replacement parts online for the light tube, power supply assembly and cabling then get somebody to replace them for you.

I recommend you to reinstall the display drivers of your laptop as the issue may occur due to the corrupted display drivers.
Uninstall the display drivers from Device Manager.
Expand Display devices.
Right click on the display device and select Uninstall.
On restarting the laptop, windows will detect the device and reinstall the display drivers.
You can even install the display drivers from your notebook support website:
