Pull rope is tuck

the cable may be stuck or you may have to take the top off and rewind the rope.

remove coil cap look at the rope pulley pull old rope forward till you get to end knot hold pully pull not out with the rest of the rope then wind pulley up till it wont go any farther back off one turn alighning the cover hole with pully hole use ascrew driver stuck between the slot on cover and pulley ten get your rope take a lighter and burn the end of the rope the take a rag pul the end of burt end of the rope shuold leave a pointed rope then take rope and stick through pully hole then the housing make the rope about 70 iches long it will be to long i no but just do it tie a knot in tend on the back of pully take lighter and heat it still it melts a very little the knot that is pull rope on through pulley hold rope remove screw driver slowly let rope wind up on pulley still it stops you will have rope sticking out reistall pulley cap then put handle on rope put handle all the way down to cap pull rope one turn push handel down to cap atie a knot in rope as close to to handel as possible heat not like the other end cut rope with 1/2 inch of rope sticking out of knot

remove the recoil. should be three 10mm bolts (maybe four) you may find that as you loosen them the rope might recoil so be careful. if not your spring is broken and needs replacing

I am suspecting you may have some issues inside the cylinder. If it gets easier when warm / hot. You may have a stuck ring or a ring almost stuck.
Is it hard to pull with the sparkplug removed?
Pull the muffler and with a soft wooden item (chopstick works well) push on the ring, does it move freely or is it solid?

take the spark plug out and see if it will pull then. be sure there is no obstruction in the tines and that they are disengaged.

Hi, if you remove the recoil housing you have a good chance of freeing the rope if it's bound. Try pulling the rope to see where it's tangled and use a screw driver to pry it loose. Good luck.

I am assuming you tried to pull start and the rope is stuck out. Just try pulling the rope while it is out, but stand on the hedge trimmer. Sometimes when this happens to me, I just pull the rope a little extra and then hang onto it when it goes back in. Alot of times, I think the rope gets caught on the outside of the retraction pulley causing a tangle.

Assuming the rope stays on the internal pulley, it is NORMAL for the rope to require great force at points in the cranking cycle (once per revolution of the crankshaft). These are the compression strokes and the force is MANY times the initial pulling force. If the rope returns easily, then the starter assembly is probably normal. It takes a strong arm and fast movement to start the enginess via pull rope. Some units have a compression release to ease this a bit.

rewind the cord

I thing the recoil spring is stuck it may be rusty. Its time for a complete maintenance on this mower. But you could try tapping the top of the recoil where the rope coils up into. Bang it a few times as you pull on the rope. this may free it up. Good luck DFD
