Usually it sticks because of sweat, dirt, etc.

Other times it's usually just wear and tear.

You can fix it by replacing the palm rest, otherwise you can get by sometimes by taking a razor blade and very carefully cleaning / thinning the sides of the tab.

BE CAREFUL! You could hurt yourself or your computer using that method.

Dell Inspirion 1525 will not boot up. Stays on the Dell screen. The laptop does not respond to F2, F8 or F12 keys.

Try this once...
Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after you switch On.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->System Restore

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next
Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

If there is no response please leave a feedback

Purchase a USB memory-stick.
Find a friend with a faster Internet connection.
The iTunes/QuickTime download is about 100 Mbytes, so it may take a while to download onto your friend's computer.
Then, copy the downloaded file onto the USB memory-stick, and carry the memory-stick to your computer, and install from that device.

How to clean inspiron 1525 touch pad

Hi there.
The touchpad itself is easy to clean but if the liquid has got into the left and right click keys you may have a problem, a warm soapy partially dry cloth will take the residue off the touchpad but the soda may have got to the circuit board causing it to be slow to react.
To clean the left and right keys and under the touchpad you have to take the laptop apart, remove the keyboard and the front cover and clean under that where you can get under the left/right click keys and the ribbon cable of the touchpad.
This type of job is not for the novice and i would advise having a technician do it whether it's in or out off warranty, preferably Dell themselves.
Other than that the best option would be to buy a wireless or wired mini mouse which are much easier to use than the touchpad itself.

Please post back with the results and more help if needed, good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Left-click sticking

Yes but be very careful , the locking pins are very tiny. Use a 2mm wide falt screwdriver and pry up slowly. Use compressed air to clean under grey/white rubber and mop with an earbud soaked in metheylated spirts. Hope it helps

It should still be under warranty at 6 months old.
If you attempt to repair yourself, you will void the warranty.
Talk to Dell before you do anything.

cableman try this exactley to the "T" with the instructions in front of you. The procedure resets your monitor to factory settings. On step 13 use the factory setting on the right side menu block not the left. It may or may not work if you have a bad board or eeprom. 1. Using the Volume button (Remote or Monitor) turn the volume all the way down.
2. Hold the Menu button on the Monitor.
3. Press the Menu button on the Remote.
4. Press and hold the Volume button on the remote for 5 seconds and then release the Menu button on the Monitor. After this step the date will appear on the left side of the screen within 10 seconds.
5. Click the Menu button on the remote.
6. Click the Left Arrow button on the remote.
7. By using the Down Arrow button, scroll to Settings and then click the Left Arrow button.
8. Highlight "Eepreset" and click the Left Arrow button. (The monitor will turn off at this time)
9. Push the Power button on the remote, the unit will turn back on.
10. Click the Menu button on the remote.
11. Click the Left Arrow button on the remote.
12. By using the Down Arrow button, scroll to Settings and then click the Left Arrow button.
13. Highlight Factory and click on the Left Arrow button to select "Off"
