Question about Avaya Lands Phones

1 Answer

Since power outage phone lines do not ring - only to receptionist

We have At&T/ Lucent / Avaya phone system (old partner mail from 1996) and over the weekend a power outage that lasted several hours have put our phone system not allowing incoming calls without stating they are being transferred to teh operater and then she must send them back to us (while it makes 2 lines ring a the same time). I have reset the system downstairs and still same problem. Any advice? Thanks. Nathan

Before we changed phone carriers our phone system rang on all lines for incoming calls but did not light up on all lines. Now it not only rings on all phones but lights up ever line. Our Avaya provider says they cannot put it back to that way and they don't know how it ever was that way, even though they installed it. We know it was that way because when the phone rang we could see who was already on a line and then decided who would answer the incoming call. Now we don't know

Your system lost its programming. It will need to be reprogrammed completely. The lines are ringing on the extensions where I voicemail is, unplug voicemail and at least lines will ring in correctly.

Changing the vms hunt delay on a Partner ACS system is done on either ext 10 or 11. At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
next press the left hand intercom twice
the display should say system programming
enter in "#505"

I have Partner mail vs release 5. When someone calls in they get the receptionist voice mail(10) instead of the day menu prompt of the automated attendant. How do I get messages to go to the automated...

You are going to need to get into programming.
#206 group 7, line 01, change from "3" to 2 assigned

You need to do that for all lines. That will make it go to the Auto attendant instead of the mailbox.

Lucent Partner Mail VS - need cordless phone

Each of the modular jacks at the cabinet will accept a single line telephone. I don't think you can "bridge" a phone on 12 year old software, but if there is a spare jack, it will work with a plain old cordless phone. Plug one in, dial 10, and read what extension you have. Here's a manual for a 4.1 Partner system to help you program the ringing. Programming is done from the display phone at extension 10 or 11.

http://public.carl.airpost.net/Avaya/Partner_ACS.pdf

After you find the extension, save yourself the trouble and go to page 447 of the attached pdf. It details how to set the Automatic line preference and ringing of the cordless. The difference is that you will select your lines AFTER the intercom as in ** LIC RIC 1 2 3 4, or 4 3 2 1. This is important! You'll then be able to dial "9" to get an outside line in forward or reverse order and still call internally.

If you find you don't get an outside line when you dial "9", then keep reading the manual, you need to put your lines in groups.

Nope. You are stuck with that. If you want you can change the button that they press, to say....9 or something...make that a selector code transfer and it wont say "receptionist" any more.

Let me know I can help change the button press....

Stop ringing at certian phones when outside calls come in.

Partner, all releases.
Examples
Receptionist Call Routing. If you want calls to be answered by the receptionist first, set the lines at the receptionist's extension to Immediate Ring and the lines at the users' extensions to No Ring. (This is the factory setting)
Receptionist Backup. If you want all calls on a line to ring directly at users' extensions -with the receptionist providing backup -set the line at the users' extensions to Immediate Ring. Then set the line (or lines) at the receptionist's extension to Delayed Ring. An incoming call that is not answered by a user within 20 seconds will also ring at the receptionist's extension.
Programming
To change the way outside lines or pools ring at an extension:
  1. Press [ Feature ] [ 0 ] [ 0 ] [ System Program ] [ System Program ] [ Central Tel Program ].
  2. Enter the number of the extension to be programmed for Line Ringing. The green lights next to the line or pool buttons on the phone show the current Line Ringing settings for all lines assigned to the extension. (If a line is not assigned to a button, the green light next to the button is off.) The following ringing options can be shown by the green light next to the line button.
    • Immediate Ring - on steady
    • Delayed Ring - flashes slowly
    • No Ring - flutters quickly
  3. To change Line Ringing for any line, press the line or pool button until the button light shows the correct setting (the setting for the currently selected line or pool also appears on the display).
  4. Continue programming or exit programming mode.
