Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 Digital Camera
I have a sony DSC-W170. It was dropped and now the lense will not shut. I tried to turn it off and back on. When I turned it back on it keeps telling me to turn the camera off and then turn it back on. The image is very blurry. The camera will not take any pictures.
I had exactly the same problem with my Sony Cyber_Shot. Here is what I did and the problem was fixed. I cleaned around the lense. While I turned the camera off, I pressed down the lense very softly (some up and down motion). After a couple of times, the lense retracted almost completely. Then I pressed a little harder until the lense retracted 100% as normal times. I turned it on everything was back to normal. If the lense does not have mechanical problem, you should be able to do what I did.
If there is no mechanical problem, most likly some dirt got on the sides of the lense while it was open. Try keep it very clean always.
