Unfortunately, the vast majority of cellular phones are incapable of producing videos at higher resolutions as digital video cameras or even digital cameras can produce. The reason behind this is that our phones are designed to be compact, and versatile, jack of all trades, master of none. The highest resolution I have seen on a phone was a whopping 240x*xxx* which is 1/5th of a very low end pc's screen resolution and 1/10th or less of a high end pc's resolution. The only possible solution would be to wait 5 years for newer, more powerful hardware, or purchase a digital video camera.

Can I use a HD receiver as input for the Toshiba XS35? Will it record HD signals? Will it record anything if the receiver is HD? I want upgrade my exisitng Bell Canada TV receiver box to HD - can I...

Yes you can record any TV show HD or SD, however it depends on what connections you use and what the recorder does with the input signals. You can record HD shows but not in HD resolution if you connect using composite video (yellow RCA cable) you just get a down-converted resolution, probably 480. You must use a HDMI or a component video connection for HD BUT if the recorder cannot record HD video, it should just record it in SD resolution but it should record the input signal. DVD is not HD, you would have to go to Blu-ray for HD and there are not many Blu-ray recorders around. The hard drive has the potential to record in HD but the recorder would have to process HD signals and you would have to connect with HDMI or component video. I would say your Toshiba will record an HD show but in SD resolution. I don't think the recorder has an HDMI input or a component video input. Just composite and S-video inputs. To actually record in HD you should look at another recorder.

126 tape only recording 30 min is there a speed setting for recording

Hello - YES the length of time depends more on quality of recording.
The lower the quality the longer the time - or - Better the quality then shorter the time.
Try going into Video settings and try either extreme.
My camera does 10m Pixel video in BEST and 3m Pixels in Normal - so there's a factor of 3 for time.

When I capture video from vhs, the result is a lot worse in quality than the original tape. I have tried capturing avi and mpeg, it makes no difference. fixed bitrate at 8000, no difference. Highest...

If you have the option, try capturing your video as MJPEG or DV format without compression, also the resolution must be 720x480 pixels (for NTSC) or 720x576 pixels (for PAL).
It will create a huge file !!! After this I recommend a dvd conversion with deinterlacing for better picture quality.
Hope this helps!

I have a Dazzle DVD Recorder but don't know what to put in the "recording time" field. I want to record a full 120 minute VHS tape but won't let me enter 120.

It is becuase the dazzle device is not selected as your video source. Please try to go back to step number 1 then click the box says pinnacle file capture then select the dazzle then try it again. :-)

Recorded video segment plays back in fast motion. How do i reset

This is a really simple problem and easy to solve.  Unfortunately the videos you've recorded cannot be changed back because they have been recorded in Time Lapse mode.
With the camera switched on in Video Mode turn the control dial on the back (this is the dial to the right of the LCD screen).  This will change the settings from TIME LAPSE to STANDARD.  There are actually 6 different modes but the best one for normal videos is STANDARD.  There is a HIGH RESOLUTION setting,  however these record fewer frames per second (fps) so whilst the quality is better per frame,  there are half the amount of fps so the the movie will look at bit jerky.
It's really easy to accidentally twist the dial when holding the camera,  so always check the icon in the top right of the LCD before recording to make sure its just a yellow camera in a yellow square.
This should be problem solved for all future recordings.

Dubbing from VCR to DVD

Dont use xp mode. Here are the definitions:
SP is short for Standard Play. Standard play allows you to record information onto the tape the way it was intended, with no quality loss. By default, VCRs and camcorders will record your footage as standard play. On a standard VHS tape, recording footage in SP mode will yield 2 hours of video.
LP is short for Long Play. Long play allows you to record much more information at the expense of quality. It accomplishes this by reducing the speed the tape is run through the VCR. As the tape speed decreases, the quality will also decrease. You’ll notice this effect when comparing a tape recorded at LP versus one recorded at SP, especially after years of storage. The LP tape will appear more blurred, have more tracking and color issues than tapes recorded at SP. A VHS tape recorded at LP can hold roughly 4 hours of video.
EP/SLP is short for extended play. Extended play is similar to LP, but actually provides you even more recording time. EP was primarily used to document long, continuous events without the need to change video tapes every 2 hours. Due to the fact that the video is not of optimal quality, many times this setting was not used in order to preserve the quality of your footage. Tapes recorded at EP usually are the most problematic after years of storage, displaying a wide variety of tape damage symptoms including color loss, audio loss, frame skipping, and tracking issues.

Recording using A/V in jack - 18 seconds max allowed

Well there could be a couple things- A. there is a problem with the camcorder's software, which will need to be fixed by a LONG phone call with Aiptek Support B. You could be using the wrong component cables for your TV C. You could have the quality set TOO high for your TV's (The PS2 is NOT HD) I recommend DVD quality for this
Hope this helped, sincerely- animation508 (youtube username)
