Hotpoint wd860p washer/drier had fault code F08 come up on the display so took all the usual steps
1. Checked filter
2. Took top off machine checked all contacts
3. Circuit tested usual items
put onto cycle onto rinse and spin after rinse came up with fault code F08 again. Checked internet sites for solutions nothing matched the problem. So started again checking all usual items nothing seemed wrong whilst spending time looking over the machine I noticed the back edge of the weight block was damp? Unplugged the unit and I looked along the grey plastic condense hose which runs from water inlet supply to the heater unit for the drier and it had been rubbing on the drum causing 2 very small holes in the pipe!!!! So to test I pinched around the pipe sealing the holes with some blue tack and fixed in place with some insulation tape. Put it back on a cycle and all seems ok I can order a new pipe whilst the wife still uses the machine. It would appear most error codes are not specific to a particular problem... Typical of a money making scam for the service dept of the manufacturers ...!!!! Watch out ... Hope this is of some use...

My washer wont go into spin cycle. I hear a clicking sound coming from the timer.

It isn't a timer it is a programmer that is probably faulty.
You can test this by setting it to spin in different program cycles.
If it refuses to spin in any , assuming that they are in different places on the programmer,, that may indicate another , different
fault.

A technician should diagnose your fault fairly easily.

Hoover wash-dryer 110 soft wave It doesn't centrifugate. I would imagine that I have to clean the filter, but I cannot find the filter. Thank you beforehand for your help. Christina

hi christina,,,its dont centrifugate???????? hmmm! do you mean spin?
or it dose spin,,, but dont pump out? if its not spining there is a program fault,,,or motor fault,,,,if it dont pump out,,,thats a pump fault,, program fault or a blocked filter,,,the pump has its own motor,,,however if there is a program fault that could cause the pump to fale to pump as well???
my brain hurts now!

Says check fan #2 on the screen when turned on and then after a few min the TV shuts down. would like to fix myself if possible. I do not have a service manual

One of the fans most likely has failed, or there are some parts overheating on one of the boards in the area of fan #2, or there is a fan velocity sensor fault.
If you open the back of the set, you can turn it on and watch to see what fan is not spinning. If all the fans are spinning then it is a board fault. If you see one fan that is not spinning, you can probably try to order one from the manufacture. When you replace the fan, and if it still does not spin, then there is a fan servo driver fault on the board that drives the fans.
In many of these sets, the fans are uPC controlled via servo drive amplifier circuits. The fan velocity is temperature controlled, something like what is used in many of the PC computers. If this board is at fault, it is best to replace it.
As for replacing boards, this can become trial and error to find the failed board. The authorized service shop will try the boards one-by-one until they find the board that is causing the fault. They will then be able to leave the new board in the set.
Very little component level service is supported for these boards. They are very sophisticated and very involved to troubleshoot. The service reps will replace boards to fix faults.

Fridgidaire front loader wont go thru spin cycle

Hi,
This sounds like it is either part of the motor that is burnt out, or a fault on the control board that controls the fast spin speed.
The motors have a number of coils, so a fault with one will cause problems at just one speed.
The power transistors on the control board can also fail - leaving one speed dead, so either of these faults may be the reason yours is not working.

#1 - Check all motor coils
#2 - Check operation of output Power transistors.
Above tests should be performed by competent engineer only.

There is also another fault concerned with an unballanced load - If it spins a few times and bounces a lot, then it will abort the spin cycle. This is usually the fault of the dampers - which are a cheap replacement.

Sears 90 Series Washing Machined throws ground fault during spin.

pvatki, I am a licensed electrician and the NEC (national electrical code) does not require a clothes washer to be on a ground fault circuit interrupter. Replacing your gfci with a standard duplex receptacle will fix the problem you are having.
