Question about Texas Instruments TI-89 Calculator
Frozen, only buttons that work are shift and diamond keys.
Remove all the primary batteries from the calculator, then remove the small round silver battery (you may need to remove the plastic backing) for 15 seconds. If done properly, the device should be forced to hard-reset. If this does not solve the problem, then physical damage may have occurred to the keyboard in the calculator, causing the keys not to function properly. But seeing as it has happened to more than one it is either a software or hardware design flaw that either needs a hard reset or your calculators may just be lemons. Disclaimer: I have not tested these procedures as I may not own the same devices or hardware and am unable to obtain one for reasonable testing or have not personally experienced the same problems with my devices.
