Question about Toshiba E-studio 281c Copier

Reboot turned machine off then on again then came up with CE40

Copier has not been used for about 2 months, last time in was used print rubbed off paper

The toner is not getting treated or hot by the drum, if its under warranty call Tech Support if not then you will likely have to replace the drum.

It says Rendering in the spool section of Job Status


I know this is from months ago but I'll post this reply so people in the future can see it:

You probably need to do an image memory clear on the machine to clear out the corrupted print job, delete it from the queue on your computer, then reboot the machine.

To do an image memory clear on a Sharp MX-4111N:
1. double tap the home button
2. touch the firmware version in the bottom right corner(it doesn't look like a button but it is)
3. a number pad will pop up, hit P * C *
4. you should now be in the simulation menu, hit 66, Mono, 10, mono, execute, yes.

Give the machine a minute to process, then it should reboot automatically. If at this point you cannot print, you need to clear the print queue on each computer and do another image memory clear.

Our Data light keeps flashing and the printer won't print. How do we get the data light to stop flashing so we can use our copier again with our computers?


Sounds like a bad print job stuck in a print spooler.
Turn off copier. Go around to all computers that print to it and open the print queue. delete all print jobs. reboot each PC. Power up copier and see if it clears

CE40:Image quality control test pattern abnormality: The test pattern.

Switch off at the right hand side of the machine, wait 10 seconds, then turn it on back again. I should clear.

I think it is caused by condensation, it can also be transfer belt failure, or paper rubbing against the transfer belt

CE40: Image quality control test pattern abnormality: The test pattern
is not formed normally. If you switch off at the right hand side of the machine, wait
10 secs then back on again, It should clear. I think it is caused by condensation.
It can also be transfer belt failure, or paper rubbing against the transfer belt. It could be
because the Developer Unit failed to Pass the Close Looping Check by the machine
every time it boots.... check for fault from 08-824 if the value of any color is " 1 "
means abnormal occur.... check for foreign matters on the dev tank...the
simplest way is clean all 3 tanks...then reset it back to "0" then do a 05-200 and
05-396-4-Fax-1624-Set

[CE40] Image quality control test pattern abnormality

1.Replace the image quality sensor

2.Set the values of "Image quality closed-loop control / Contrast voltage (08-556)" and "Image
quality closed-loop control / Laser power (08-557)" to "1" (Valid). MEANING Shutdown the machine,press 0+8,while starting the machine, enter 556 then enter 1,confirm it,then press 557 then 1,confirm it.
Below are further instructions in the same way

3.Perform "Enforced performing of image quality open-loop control (05-394)" and make sure it is
completed normally. (Error [CE40] does not appear.)
4.Clear all "Image quality control abnormal detection counter Y to K display/0 clearing (08-573 to
576)"

Your HDD is having issues. First try to rebuild the databases by holding 0 and 8 while turning on the copier, when the machine comes ready key in 684 then reboot the machine. If this doesn't work you can try formatting the HDD (make sure you backup templates and address book if you use them.) To format HDD hold 0 and 8 while turning on the copier, when the machine comes ready key in 690 and hit start. It will then display "2 2", hit start again. Wait for it to say please reboot the machine, turn it off and back on. Hopefully this will work but if not, your HDD will need replacing.

My color has not worked well in the past few months. Now I get the message Unable to Print, Use Troubleshooting and rountine maintenance chapter in user's manual. I've tried everything it told me. I've removed all ink cartridges and left them upright (they are ALL brand new) and cleaned all the ink ports. I've cleaned the machine several times. It's told me there's no ink cartrige, I've replaced them, turned the machine off and on, unlplugged, etc. Then go to print and I get the same message again and it won't print. The machine is almost 2 years old and has worked fine until about 6 months ago when the magenta stopped working all together. Now this. Any help? Thanks.
