On my w900L to get flash codes how many times do I turn the ignition on and off and hitting the throttle haw many times

Check fuses and relays. Easy to check power to switches on those. Check power to blower motor.

Good question. Since most manufacturers don't give routing of harnesses, just generalization. Where they should be. You have to do what most of us do. Pull panels to find the short. Start at the light itself. Check for power and ground in the wire behind the plug.

firstly , you take it to a kenworth service center as the light can be engine or transmission and it is serious
next we have no idea as to what engine you are running so any answer is pointless
next you have to run the fault codes before a code can be explained as to what to do

Help...Extremely high swrs. Galaxy dx 44v twin tdin Wilson 2000 antenna's, custom new rg59 coax. Mounted on a 99 Kenworth W900L. Swr is near set mark. Good continuity, radio just back from shop for peak...


Measure out your coax in 3ft intervals. Like if you need 7ft use a 9ft length of coax. Also make sure your mirrors are grounded use a external swr meter as well, the internal swr on the galaxy could be off. .

Connect white (test lead) and black (ground lead) wires that are branched from harness approximately eight inches from ECM. After leads are grounded, the "Check Engine" light will flash the diagnostic trouble codes. The DTC's are indicated by the flashing CEL.
FLASH, FLASH, pause, FLASH, FLASH, FLASH = Code 23.
If only one diagnostic trouble code is stored, the DTC will repeat continuously until test leads are disconnected. If more than one diagnostic trouble code is stored, each DTC will repeat three times, starting with the lowest, then proceed to the next DTC. After all DTC's have been displayed, the pattern will repeat.I-MARK 84-85
Connect male and female test leads taped into wire harness near ECM. After leads are connected, the "Check Engine" lamp will flash the trouble codes. The DTC's are indicated by the flashing CEL.

86-87 Impulse located near the ECM connector, is used to actuate the Engine Control Module (ECM) trouble code memory within the module. Two terminals (A and C) of this connector are used to activate the diagnostic trouble code system in the ECM. With the ignition switch turned On, engine Off, connect a jumper wire between terminals A and C. The "Check Engine" lamp will begin by flashing a DTC 12. DTC 12 = flash, pause, flash, flash. There will be a longer pause and a code 12 will repeat two more times. This code indicates the self-diagnostic system is operating. The cycle will then repeat until the engine is started or the ignition is switched Off. In most cases, DTC's will be checked with the engine running since no DTC's other than DTC 12 or 51 will be present without the engine running. Remove jumper wire from ALDL connector before starting engine. Reconnect jumper wire after engine is running.

Throttle Body Fuel Injection

The ECM test connection is located under the center console.
A built-in, self diagnostic system will identify problems in the throttle body fuel injection system. When a problem is detected, the diagnostic system will illuminate the "Check Engine" light.
When the engine is started, the Check Engine light should turn off.. If the light remains lit, the self diagnostic has detected a problem. To determine where the problem exists, ground the "Test" terminal of the connector with the ignition On, engine Off and watch the check engine light. Each DTC will flash three times (lowest to highest).

Trouble codes


You may just have a stray fault, try to clear it and see if it returns: Key ON, Key OFF, Key ON, hit left turn signal 2 times wait for 2 flashes,,, hit right turn switch ONCE =>One Flash. Hit Right switch once =>2 flashes, Hit right turn switch once again =>3 flashes. Hit Left turn switch once than read codes to clear Hit left switch & hold for confirmation 2 flashes (hold at least 5 seconds).

If the code comes up again you've got a poor ground issue somewhere.

I have a 2004 gxsr 1000 with fault code c42. It wont start. oil light is flashing and displays FI on the temp. Bike just crank but will not fire it up. Help?


Grab a paperclip.

Place the bike in Neutral, and take the rear seat cowling off. On the side of the bike between the tail section and the trunk you will find a connector that is covered by a rubber cap, and has two wires running into it. Remove the cap and take note of which one of the 4 sockets the two wires go to. Turn the bike ON and start it up, short the wires out with the paperclip. Where your speedo was flashing a -CHEC- with the temp should now be a CXX error code. Write this code down. Then shut the bike off. Match the code up with the list below. Grab a Manual and get to work!

(What you have just done is put the bike into "Dealer Mode".

recall 05S28. Description: Speed Control Deactivation Switch.

Try the self test for the Cruise Control :


With the key off depress and hold the cruise control off button while turning the ignition to the run position,don't start the truck, the cruise light will flash once to let you know it is in self test.
Five additional flashes indicate a bad cruise control servo

Release the cruise off switch and within 5 seconds depress the other switches in sequence:
1. on
2. resume
3. coast
4. set/ accel
The speed control light will flash as each switch is depressed.

If the last one does not flash it may then flash a code

After this the cruise will move the throttle to test the actuator and the cable.
Make sure the throttle returns to idle and turn the key off.

Self-Test Diagnostics

WARNING:
This test is a key on engine off (KOEO) test only that is conducted in park only with emergency brake fully engaged.

1. Enter self-test diagnostics by depressing the speed control OFF switch while turning the ignition key ON, making sure the engine does not start and is not running. The speed control indicator on the instrument panel will flash once to indicate that speed control module entered the diagnostic mode. Five additional flashes at this point indicate a defective speed control servo. Release the OFF switch.

2. Press the remaining switches in this sequence: ON, RESUME, COAST and SET/ACCEL.

If the ON switch is not depressed within five seconds after entering the diagnostics mode, the module times out and the procedure must be started over.

The speed control indicator lamp will flash as each switch is depressed. Press each switch in the sequence immediately after the indicator light goes out for the previous switch.

Note:
There will be a slight delay when the last button is pressed and the lamp flashes.

3. A lamp flash with the last button (SET/ACCEL) indicates that the static test passed. If the lamp does not flash with the last button and there are no additional flashes of the lamp, the switch is defective.

If the lamp does not flash with the last button, and additional flashes occur, follow the chart below for trouble codes:

- 2 flashes - BPP defective, circuit is defective, brake applied, CPP switch or jumper (if equipped).

- 3 flashes - deactivator switch is open or circuit defective.

- 4 flashes - vehicle speed signal is out of range or circuit is defective

4. Immediately (.25 second delay) after the static test, the speed control servo does a dynamic test by automatically actuating the throttle lever from 8 mm (0.315 in) to 12 mm (0.472 in) of travel from the idle position. During the dynamic throttle pull, observe throttle movement to witness any binding or sticking of the speed control cable and correct connection of speed control cable to throttle lever. Make sure the throttle returns to the idle position.

5. Return the ignition switch to the OFF position and proceed to the Symptom Chart.
