Question about Carter Products Rikon 14" Sears 14" Professional Guide Conversion Kit

The guide assembly on my 14" band saw will not stay peralell with the blade as it goes from the top of its travel to the bottom. it goes right to left going up and reverse going down the blade . the o

The guide assembly on my Sears model number 124.32607 14" Band Saw will not move true or parallel to the blade. when I turn the assembly up towards the top of its travel there is a 1/4" movement from left to right, of the assembly and then the reverse action coming back down its travel by the blade. this problem should be an easy fix except the frame if folded steel and not cast steel and there does not seem any way to adjust the action of this assembly other than retooling it. Is this an inherent problem with this saw, or is there something that I am missing?

Sounds like something's bent. You might need some replacement parts. 14" band saws, regardless of brand, are generally made with Chinese parts that are knockoff Delta-Rockwell parts from many years ago. Grizzly sells most of these parts at reasonable prices. Check the exploded views of their saws to see if the parts match. Craftsman parts are expensive, even though they're the same part.

What makes a delta 28-243F 14" band saw blade keep coming off?

The most common is wheel misaligment. The top wheel has an adjusting screw or the equivalent somewhere, and you can turn that to align the blade to the center of the wheels.
Second most common is guide problems. There are some guides that are supposed to hold the blade "just right" above and maybe below the table where you are cutting These must be set to support the blade in it's correct position as you are cutting through the material you are cutting.
3rd problem is a saw blade that has lost it's tension from being
" worn out ".
Be blessed.

Tire comes off top wheel almost all the time. Tire comes off bottem wheel sometimes. Don't know how to set up this saw.

My jet bandsaw did same thing only fix was new tires .Tires are supposed to be tite on wheel .get wood dowels between tire and wheel and roll new tire onto wheel. If desperate could glue on with weather strip adhesive.put bandsaw blade on both tires spin wheels with power off till blade is running in center of wheel by adjusting top wheel in or out. When done adjust blade guides to blade and bearings to back of blade .This is top and bottom of cutting area

My bandsaw don't work right, I go to cut wood ,the blade turn all difference way, I where out the block on the guide , It just don't work right

A couple options. 1. New blade. A dull blade will swivel around like that. Especially with a tight grained wood. 2. All the guides need to be properly adjusted including the height, both lateral guides, and the back guide.

Why does the saw cut at an angle?

The table is not perpendicular to the blade travel. Use a small level to make sure the machine is vertical , then set the table. Make sure the blade control guide is working.

Problem with upper wheel and blade tension assembly

I have seen some saws go to pot and you can't get them to track for nothing, I assume that is your problem. Get the blade off and check the wheel bearings for slop, any play in the bearing? good, Then put the blade back on, back off the guides, get it spinning by hand and tilt the top wheel so the blade tracks in the center of the tire and stays there. tighten up the tension, not too tight, but snug, it should twang when it is plucked. Now bring in the guides. You should be all set, if that doesn't do it, then you have a problem, like I said, they can be a nightmare. It will take some serious tweaking to figure it out and get it right. Hope this helps.

8 inch delta band saw that cant keep the band in place in use

The rubber bands on the metal wheels are called tires, and if they are cracked, they may very well be crowned and causing the problem with the band coming off.

To test, remove the back guide (as opposed to the side guides) on the top and bottom guide sets (above and below the table.). Put a blade on, and see if it will stay on. If it doesn't, replace the tires. If it does, reinstall the back guides and make sure they do not touch the back of the blade when the saw is running. There should by about 1/32" between the guide and the blade.

The blade falls off the bearings/guides

The blade is suppose to ride on the face of the bearing not the profile side. If you are looking at the bearing on a table flat with the hole in the middle, this would be the face. The blade makes slight contact with this bearing to back it up as it goes by. In other words the blade is not suppose to travel around the bearing as it spins. It is suppose to travel across the bearing. Take a look at the picture I drew below. Also review the instructions for the guide setup. You can view them online at :,28-206%2028-276.pdf Page 19 is the page with the guide setup.
