What is a good belt size to use to bypass the a.c. pulley in a 2007 Ford Taurus V6 3.0

it will be pretty much hit and miss to get the right bely
you can get an estimate of the belt length by measuring the distance between where the existing belt contacts the power steering and crank pulley
make a note of that length (A)
now using a tape measure measure from the contact point on the crank pulley around the ac pulley to the contact point on the power steering pulley
make a note of that length (B)
now take A from B and reduce the original belt length by that amount
example -- if the original belt is 1485 mm long and the difference is 145 mm then you would be looking at a new belt length of 1340 mm
well that is the general idea
personally replacing the ac compressor is a far better idea , even if you do not re-gas the system or replacing the ac pulley bearing --cheaper still

Just replaced my idel air controle moter and it already broke

Hello. I believe there is a process for setting the pintle length on the idle air control motor...you need to look at a shop manual and it will detail how to measure the stickout of the old iac. Then you turn/ adjust/ unscrew the iac pintle. The pintle is the part that sticks out to regulate the idle by opening or closing/blocking the idle air port. If you do not adjust the stickout, the pintle is either out too far or too short, and then the motor cannot effectively regulate the idle. It burns the motor because the computer(ECU/ECM) keeps telling the motor to open or close the port MORE but it's at the end of the travel and burns up due to running constantly. Hope this helps...Good Luck, Brian

1995 ford f150 xlt 4x4 straight six 5 speed.. the metal brake line that runs on the frame from the front drivers side to the rear axle is busted nned to know the length? size of line? and size of fittings...

I can't tell you the length but the diameter of brake lines is commonly 3/16" and rarely bigger - some older vehicles and heavier vehicle use 1/4".

The size of the pipe is intuitive by simple comparison or measuring with a caliper but there is several different threads, lengths, diameters of pipe nuts in common use and it is important to get these right first time.

It is also very important the replacement pipe is formed exactly as the original, follows exactly the original route and is adequately secured.

When one brake pipe fails usually others aren't far behind and the failure of a pipe should signal a very close examination of the others, especially looking for corrosion scale or pitting close to the wheels. Replacing four or five pipes on a large vehicle can use a whole 25 foot roll of pipe.

It might be better to invest in a cheap pipe flaring kit and the materials to produce your own pipes - or remove the old pipes and ask a local repairer to make new pipes to those patterns. That was my job as an apprentice and I must have produced a mile of pipes for outside customers.

I dropped my Nikon Coolpix L1 camera and cracked the battery door. Now whenever I take a picture, I have to hold the battery door manually so it will stay shut and recognize the power of the battery. I'm...

So other than the broken battery door (very common) it works just fine?

Well you could go and spend a fortune on another camera. Or you might decide that a few cents worth of sticky tape to hold the door closed is far better value.

I've fixed the same fault on similar Nikon models before by fashioning replacements for the broken plastic tab/loops using shaped short lengths of paper clip wire glued into carefully filed channels using epoxy resin (the designs vary, but Nikon keep making them of plastics with all the structural integrity of cheese!). Doing it that way makes a far neater and original-looking job of it and restores normal functionality.

I would like (need!!) to create an extention cord for a pool heater (UK) 3000w, 220/240v (13-14 amp). I want to plug it into the 220/240v, 30 amp dryer line. (My only 220/240 line and am unable install...

Use 12/3 gauge rubber or plastic insulation rated for 500 to 600 volts and extend the cable for entire length--don't make a short extension of the existing heater cable. If the total length is over about 4 meters then go with 10/3 cable for safety. The green wire is for the ground pin and the two slanted pins go to 220/240 voltage. Hook the heater end the same as the original cable. That should satisfy any local-disconnect regulations (at least in the states).

I loaded the film but display window shows a flashing zero

Go ahead and try anyway. A ruined film is far cheaper than a useless camera or a professional repair. In any case, if the film hasn't loaded properly it will only be the first short length of film which is ruined. As this is a newly loaded film you haven't any risk of losing any undeveloped photos.

Auto spooling film systems are great when they work, but sometimes are a real pain and some cameras seem really picky about having a film leader of precisely the right length. See if you can engage the the film onto the spool manually.

Too long backset on new Door Knob for older home's door

You can get a variety of backsets at a GOOD door/ window company.
You may also want to look closely at the lock bolt again, because some of them come with a backset adjuster. Some of the Schlage and Kwiksets will allow you to twist the barrel and change the backset...
