It could be the lamp. I have seen this many times on DLP'S. If the ballast is firing it which is usually around 600 volts or so, then i would say it is fine, and only needs a lamp. Let me know if that helped you. Later Jay

Yes you have to reset the lamp timer.
How to do this :
1.) Hold in the up arrow key on the Projector for 5 seconds , a on-screen display will appear in the top left hand corner.
2.) It will read : Press left or right and then Menu or Auto.
Just follow the steps and the lamp timer will be reset.
Thanks for using Fixya !

Have you tried resetting the lamp timer ?
If you have and it didn't solve the problem , take out the lamp and check for any discolouration or markings on the lamp.
If you do find anything out of order then the lamp would need replacement.

SOURCE: Shutting down after 2 min
call panasonic-- they have extended the warranty on this issue up to 18 months, as it is a known problem with the sealant for the iris. If the sealant is not moving, the iris sticks and the projector goes into lockdown. Call this number and they will take care of your problem: 1-800-211-PANA (7262)

okay most people think well its not hot up there but truely it is hot toward the cealing. If its overheating on the roof mount try to use a wall mount instead.. If they have it running for 5 days streight then is something your not oding right here and that might be the mount.
