I have the Bosch Next 500 series and I hate it. I am trying to clean off the mold growing on the 'roof' of the detergent basket. I am using a dental tool and q tips but I can't reach some of it.

Hello. Welcome to a "nature of the beast" situation with cleaning your washer. These washers are a lot more user intensive than the older ones. I'm a tech and tell all my customers to build a CLEANING KIT consisting of the following:
2-gallon bucket
2 old toothbrushes
1 kitchen or bathroom scrub brush(on the medium/small side)
3 old wash cloths
3 pairs of comfortable rubber(Playtex) gloves
1 gallon of household bleach
Procedure: Put on gloves(always)
MIX 1 cup bleach to 1 gallon of warm/hot water
Clean the dispenser areas with the toothbrushes dipped in the water/bleach solution(be careful to *not* get bleach on any metal surfaces, use the scrub brush also. Try to flush the areas with clean water or wipe/flush with a wash cloth and clean water.
FOR CLEANING THE BELLOW(RUBBER BOOT THAT MAKES THE DOOR SEAL)
Dunk a wash cloth or 2 in the water/bleach solution, squeeze out enough water so that the cloth is very wet but *not* dripping, carefully place the cloths in the fold of the bellow and wipe around and around, repeating the dunking and squeezing as often as needed. DON'T BE ROUGH, DO NOT USE DENTAL TOOLS ANYWHERE NEAR THE BELLOW--if you puncture it, it will leak and have to be replaced. You can use a toothbrush or scrub brush as long as you are gentle with the scrubbing. Take your time and try to remove as much of the mold as possible.
Run a washer cleaner through the unit at least once per month. For heavy mold build-up you will have to use several boxes of cleaner once a week for 3 weeks. After each cleaning cycle(no spin needed), run the washer on HOT WATER, heavy duty, bulky, etc WITH NOTHING IN IT), then, for run #3, only wash whites--this will ensure that anything with cleaner in it has been flushed out the washer. I hope I helped you!

The last 5 minutes of my washing cycle, my washer makes this loud noise! It sounds like a plane taking off! It's so loud, you can't hear tv. I'm not sure what the problem is.

Does it dry the clothes as fast as always? Or is it taking longer to dry them? That noise could be the blower wheel.

If the noise is more of a scrubbing sound that would be your glides worn thin and rubbing the mount

Something can also be in the blower causing the noise.

9_20_2011_2_48_43_pm.jpgTake the door off first and since the door is reversable remove those 2 screws on the other side. Then the front pops off revealing the clips that hold down the top. Then you can get the glide mount/shroud off there and remove the tub. You probably figured out you cannot access the innards from the rear of the dryer.

Makes scratching noise

A common problem with noises from washing machines has been the under wire that may come out of small clothes. In the washer they can get stuck in one of the inner basket holes and make a scrapping noise, they can actually make there way into the pump and jam the pump, or make a terrible noise when the pump is running. Grab a flash light and have a peek inside the washer for this. Front load washers seem very common to this happen! If the tiny cloth  is showing signs of fraying, may be best not to wash it in the washing machine, replace the cloth

Black mold

You can try a product called Affresh it's supposed to work quite well to maintian a clean washer. If you already have a smelly washer you should run a few cycles using Affresh. You also want to make sure you're using HE soap (it will have an HE oval shaped logo on the detergent bottle). If you're not soap residue will build up in the machine and start to smell.
