If you don't see any screws on the front of the grille there should be 2-3 on the top of the oven.

Why does the microwave stop after 2 seconds

Possible due to a cut off of high current drain, trip off. Clean the inside of the oven and check for any metal or moisture on the surfaces, also if possible remove the oven cover after disconnecting the power and clean thoroughly, if there is no improvement you need to take a voltage check on the capacitor- possible damage or the magnetron leaking.

Shorted out microwave when i tried tochange lightbulb. GE model jnm1731dm1bb, where is the fuse located?

The fuse is probably located behind the grille, and it may again be behind a small panel behind the grille. Look for the fuse label when you get the grille off.

There is a video here which shows you how to remove the grille.

But chances are good that you also damaged the circuit board when you removed or inserted the bulb without first unplugging the oven, as it says on the label by the light socket.
But that can usually be repaired economically repaired.
Or you can order and install a new smart board.
For model jnm1731dm1bb (also called JNM1731DMBB01) it is part number WB27X10933 and you can get it from the Pros here for $151.56.

How do I clean the stainless steel interior of my electrolux icon microwave

Hello - Interior cleaning after convection, mix or broil cooking:

Spatters may occur because of moisture and grease. Wash immediately after use with hot, soapy water. Rinse and polish dry. Harder to remove spatters may occur if oven is not thoroughly cleaned or if there is long time/high temperature cooking. If so, you may wish to purchase an oven cleaner pad with liquid cleaner within it-not a soap filled steel pad-for use on stainlessor porcelain surfaces. Follow manufacturer's directions carefully and be especially cautious not to get any of the liquid cleaner in the perforations on the wall or ceiling or any door surfaces. Rinse thoroughly and polish dry. After cleaning the interior thoroughly, residual grease may be removed from the interior ducts and heater by simply operating the oven on 450 F for 20 minutes without food. Ventilate the room if necessary.

Interior cleaning after microwave cooking:

Cleaning is easy because no heat is generated to the interior surfaces; therefore, there is no baking and setting of spills or spattering. To clean the interior surfaces, wipe with a soft cloth and warm water. DO NOT USE ABRASIVE OR HARSH CLEANERS OR SCOURING PADS. For heavier soil, use baking soda or a mild soap; rinse thoroughly with hot water. NEVER SPRAY OVEN CLEANERS DIRECTLY ONTO ANY PART OF THE CONVECTION MICROWAVE OVEN.

How is the forman cleaned grill cleaned

The grill is cleaned carefully. The key, presuming that you do NOT have removable grills, is to NOT get water inside the unit. When you eventually kill the one that you have, get removable grills, next time. The unit will last MUCH longer.

My mother's GE microwave oven has a large burn mark on the ceiling of the unit. She noticed some plastic parts on the floor of the unit. She bought the combination microwave-stove about four years ago and...

That would be the stirrer assembly. It consists of the stirrer motor, stirrer blade, and stirrer cover.

Without the stirrer in place, the oven will not cook evenly and may arc and spark.

Without the cover in place, food particles and grease can get on the waveguide and magnetron, and cause arcing damage.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you need to replace the stirrer motor, you'll probably have to pull the oven from the wall. You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

    Clean vent

The vent (also known as grill assembly in GE literature) comes off after removing the two screws at the top of the unit and gently sliding the entire assembly to the left about an inch. This will allow the vent to be cleaned of grease, hair, etc., as well as giving some access to the areas behind the vent.
