SOURCE: Oven light remains on when door is closed.

This range was probably made by Whirlpool or one of its dozen divisions so it probably has some slop in the hinge mounting to correct for their so-so manufacturing. You may have to somewhat disassemble it to get to the hinge screws though.

SOURCE: Kenmore 790 Oven Locking mechanism problem

hold down the stop/clear button for 3+ seconds

SOURCE: on my Kenmore 790 range

Closed the door (as far as you can close it) and then I press the self clean button. Set the time for two hours and the display will read " lock" and the 'system will think it is locked. Then press "cancel/stop" and wait for three seconds. The cleaner will stop and read "unlocked" After that, the lock hook that is sticking out will pull itself back in and then you can fully close the door

Kenmore electric range model 790 door lock light flashing

Hi, When door locks, This is when oven is in self clean mode. After the heat has cooled down the door should release again. If this does not work try turning the power off to the stove (breaker) This should reset the stove to normal. Call a repair man if this continues. Good luck.

I continue to get code F11 on my Kenmore Elite Gas Range Oven and therefore, I am unable to unlock / open my oven door. I have pressed and held down the STOP button as well as the oven light button.

Your model number should be much longer than 790 30 Open drawers and doors to look for the whole model number around the frame.

With the whole model number you can get more information at Sears Parts Direct. There are parts diagrams and user manuals and you can order parts.
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/

This site gives instructions for repairing F11 and recommends checking the temperature probe and tells how to do it.

Why does my kenmore range beep and show an error code every time I open the oven door?

Also
Sometimes shutting off the circuit breaker that the range or oven is connected to for 30 seconds will clear the fault, error or function code.

Also
F3 or F30 means that there may be a problem with the oven sensor.
Your oven sensor may need to be replaced.

Kenmore 790 electric range

The F1 code is a problem with the very sensitive electronic panel inside and it probably got taken out when the socket shorted out. Here is the part to order. There is a video on that same parts page to show you how to swap the board out.

I had the same problem. Open the oven door. Press and hold the light switch. You will hear the door lock move back into the correct position. Hope this fixes your problem. This has happened to me twice and holding the light switch always works.

Oven door

dat, If your model starts with 790. there is a service flash regarding the hinges. Oven door not closing all the way. Affected model serial numbers VF-428xxxxx through VF-434xxxxx. There is a hinge kit for it, part number depends upon your full model number. You may want to call Sears and inquire about the service flash, you should be covered. Catriver..post back.
