Common carb problem, sometimes the fuel hoses need replacement. Clean carb with carb cleaner. Be sure to remember where all parts go. Get a repair kit, very cheap, clean out all ports with brass or steel bristle or something small. Put back on engine if still has problems replace carb it could be worn out

Describe your Briggs Stratton Lawnmower Lawn Mower Short Block Problem. I have model# 11A-414E765 Lawn Mower. Starts ok but is surging and when I checked a brand new spark plug it was full of black dust...

I am pretty sure this is a 4.5 Hp engine with the carb on top of the tank. Plastic carb 4 or 5 mounting screws mating carb to tank. Remove the air cleaner... and tighten the carb to fuel tank mating screws. It is drawing air between the tank and the carb. This should stop the surging. If is has been a long period that you used the mower with the surging problem the diaphragm between the tank and the carb may be either out of position or damaged. The diaphragm is not expensive. Usually the first time this symptom presents itself you can resolve it by tightening the carb to tank scresw. IF you have the primer bulb carb..mash the rubber of the bulb against the carb body. If the surging stops... the primber bulb has a pin hole in it.

You passed the mower model number and not the engine model number. When we use the 11A number you passed all we get is the base and handle parts. If you need more help I need the model number off the engine just above the spark plug wire on the air shroud.

Thanks for choosing Fixya,
Kelly

Inpressing the purge bulb, no fuel is being drawn into the bulb. I've tried replacing the bulb with no sucess. Also tried disassebling the carb and cleaning it but again, no sucess. Any help with...

If you are not getting fuel to the carb.. no amount of primer bulb pushing will draw fuel into the carb. Disconnect the main fuel line at the carb and check for fuel flow from the fuel tank to the carb.
There is a fuel strainer (inside the fuel tank) that is item 7 of this link:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Mantis-Parts/Cultivator-Parts/Model-7225/3278/1500063/P0605037/00004?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=7225 that if it is clogged will prevent fuel flow to the carb.
Make sure all the lines are fully seated in the grommet (item 5 above link)
Additionally if the check valve item 8 is not functioning correctly you will not get fuel to the carb.

A good test to see if the problem is inside or outside of the carb is to disconnect the main fuel line and hold your thumb over the main fuel line manifold. Depress the primber bulb.... It should stay depressed by itself.. (not always but usually)

The ZAMA carb manual is here:
http://www.zamacarb.com/pdfs/TechGuide_2007.pdf
See page 13 of the manual and see if there is an internal fuel strainer in your carb. (they are TINY)
The strainer is item 31 this link:
http://c.searspartsdirect.com/lis_png/PLDM/P0605037-00002.png
If you got the gasket stack up incorrect you will not get fuel using the primber bulb.
Your carb PN is C1U-K82 and uses an RB-71 re-build kit.
The kit is item 23 of this link:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Mantis-Parts/Cultivator-Parts/Model-7225/3278/1500063/P0605037/00002?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=7225
Strainer is also item 31 of the link above.

Ryobi ex 26 starts and idles but when i hit the trigger to go in to run phase it dies . any solution ?

This sounds like a fuel delivery problem. If fuel filter, fuel lines, air filter and muffler are clear...that is probably the case. The fuel pump diaghram in the carb maybe has failed and it would need to be replaced. They have diaghram kits and complete carb rebuild kits available for the name brand carbs. Some Ryobi machines have been known to use a Chinese made "knockoff" carb on some of their products which has the same design and features, but you would have to cross-reference model 3 to carb model for your machine. Hopefully it has a ZAMA or WALBRO on it. Check all the items listed above and remove the carb and check for debris inside (esp. In the little round fine mesh screen on the side with the square-type cover (metering diaghram side). The fuel pump diaghram is on the oppposite side of the carb. These get brittle over time and don't flex enough to do the job and cause problems like you have.
Please vote on this solution.

Most probably the carb restricted by varnish, trash or rust. Need to clean carb. You'll probably see the problem when you remove the bowl.
