Hollow sound My Ford Focus is making hollow noise when driving between 50 -60 mph. Its happening since I had my tracking done. Front driver side tyre needed changing as inner thread gone bald. Got the tyre changed the hollow noise is still there. Is there any issue do you think?

check if you tires have rayon cords or steel belts. this is a problem associated with the older tyres that had rayon cords as the main structure of the tyre. When left standing after running and allowed to cool the rayon belts actually took on a flat spot on the bottom and the noise lasted until the tyre warmed up enough for the tyre pressure to make the tyre round again. In extreme cold it may be the same for steel belted radials as the flat bottom of the tyre would hold the shape until the rubber warmed up .
hmm mondeo --- nice car its a jaguar with a ford badge and i do like them ,now being a later model iam not sure if it has one of them funny flywheels like a peugeot with a rubber insert ,depends on the engine as ford do fit the sfd peugeot diesel engine and this engine is used in lots of other makes as well as it reduces costs using a standard power unit ,also check the front pulley as these have a rubber insert as well .also jack vehicle up and make sure the tyres are running true unless they are michelin or hankook as be surprised how many deformed tyres end up being sold off for agricultural use and end up back in the tyre shops????? dont think its a gearbox problem as its a ford box and these are legendary for lasting well ,drive shaft ??? well it could be but i dont think so as it would make clunking noises around bends ,my money is on the front pulley or the flywheel depending on type .nearly every vehicle that i have had with this sort of problem has bben a flywheel dampener problem but i have do get a lot of deformed tyres from the sun here in spain
i have just brought 05 c max lx and got same problem with road noise got original tyres so it cant be that must be down to lack of insulation as standard fitting as lx is base model
