I have a "acer ASPIRE ONE A0722" I had to restore it to factory setting, my Drive's are wrong and I keep getting a notice saying the wrong drive's were installed; how can I resolve this issue for free

My problem started when a notice popped up on the screen saying,"windows update, click to update windows" I clicked on the notice and it installed a windows 32 program, it caused me all kinds of trouble and I tried all kinds of things to correct it, and tried to restore the computer to a earlier restore date, but none of that worked, so I finally done the factory restore, sence then the drive's have not been right,i think i need to install all new drives that are compatible with my windows program that is on my computer, it came with, "windows 7 Home Premium but sometimes it say's "windows XP, i dont know if that makes a differance or not? PLEASE tell me how I can solve this problem for free.

Sounds like you have tried to down load unregistered software. Microsoft will not let you do that anymore without problems. I never have a problem with upgrades. My neighbor has nothing but problems because he wants free software. Your drive has nothing to do with the download other than to save it. Microsoft an your computer cares nothing about your computers drive, only that it fits an runs. Some where you have downloaded copies or similar an they are rejecting you. If you can get back to the original set up with some disks it will go back to normal

SOURCE: DVD/CD-ROM drive missing

Problem with missing dvd-drive with Acer 5101 solved.
Problem was that depending on boot, even bios couldn?t detect dvd-drive. I
opened my laptop and found out that there were one small screw that wasn?t
connected to anywhere. I opened the screw that locks dvd-drive in to 2.5? slot. In the back of the
dvd-drive is L- shaped peace of metal. One of it?s screws were already dropped
and 2 that were left were loose. I tightened those screws, but drive back and
got my laptop working fine.

I think you need some access to your Windows o/s, though you might be able to a factory restore by booting your laptop from a USB flash drive into Linux (on the flash drive).
Search for "restore acer laptop to factory settings", you will find several guides, one which might be http://www.ehow.com/how_6948898_restore-factory-settings-acer-aspire.html - describes how to carry out the procedure with a recovery CD (do not need access to the OS on the hard disk). Other results might describe other ways, for example if you have access to the windows os on your HD.
By restoring to factory condition (recovery) you will LOSE ALL THE WORK YOU HAVE DONE THAT IS STORED ON THE HARD DISK, unless you keep back ups or make a copy of your HD before carrying this procedure (this is easy).

Always make back ups of your data (and system). You should have realized this in retrospect when you lost the data on your USB flash drive - ALWAYS KEEP A BACK-UP.

So, there are many ways you might be able to restore your laptop to factory condition. Yes, you can do this yourself, if you are prepared to do some research into the topic (if you are able). Search on the internet how to restore acer laptops to factory status, establish what you might be able to do. Join one of the many forums where you can discuss the problem with experienced people eg www.majorgeeks.com, www.bleepingcomputer.com, www.computerhope.com, etc, etc. First, you should make a clone of your HD onto another HD, in case anything goes with your efforts to factory restore. If anything should go wrong then you are in the same position as you started. Do you have an Acer Aspire recover CD ? If not you may be able to obtain one from Acer (they might charge you for this).

Restore to factory settings

The Acer Aspire One is a netbook, not a laptop.
A netbook is a smaller, scaled-down version of a laptop. It does not have the memory capacity or graphics of a regular laptop.
It also lacks a CD drive, which means you cannot restore the Acer Aspire One with restore discs. Instead, the netbook has a built-in factory restore feature.
You can reset the Acer Aspire One to factory settings just using your keyboard.
Only restore your netbook to factory settings if you cannot fix the problem any other way.
Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives.
Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive.
Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook.

Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen.
The recovery menu will load.
Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options.
Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears.
Reboot the netbook when you are prompted.
Restore your saved files from the flash drive.

I bought the Acer 6920 factory restore CD's to set it back to factory default but when i run it it gets to the third disk at 90% and then says Restore Failed and gives me this Error code 0xd000000a. Does...

It stands to reason that if it ran the other 2 it should run all of them. that tells me its probably not your system. The disk could be faulty. I would check with manufactuer.

Acer apire 3000 keeps freezing!

The first, best thing to do is to back up your data and do a system restore. Acer's have the restore function usually built into their acer system management software.

Restoring the computer will solve most issues. If you keep having issues after the restore you probably have a hardware error like a bad hard drive or bad memory.

Be sure to back up any important data as the restore will erase everything from the hard drive and set it back to the way it came from the factory

Good luck!
