Solution A: make sure you are using the correct cable for what you are doing (eg USB for webcam and importing photos and Firewire for transferring video footage
most desktops have firewire plug in them but laptops don't usually
to get a firewire plug in a laptop you need a PCMCIA to Firewire Cardbus (ask your local retail store for one or buy one on ebay etc.)
after that put the cardbus in your PCMCIA slot and restart
then go to Windows Movie Maker and press "capture from video device"

Drivers are not available any where but you can try this option:-
windows XP version to Profesional SP2, and all the devices were identified, properly installed and fully operative, including the Panasonic GS27 camera, connected to the PC through the firewire port, without need any driver/controller.
