Question about Pioneer DEH-P86DHR
I plugged everything in, it lights up but I get no sound. There is a wire that I thought was the remote wire, it is blue with a white stripe and it has a plastic tube shaped thing on it that says 0.5A on it but it doesn't have a fuse in it. Could that be the problem for the sound?
That blue wire is a remote wire that runs an external amp.if you have one, that alone will make you have no sound.if not your going to have to try one because i think you cooked the internal amp in your head unit.dose it smell burnt in rear of head unit? need rca cables, power wire to run from battery to amp also you must ground external amp should fix the problem.run power for amp right from battery with a fuse or cur.breaker about 8 to 10 inches from battery in power line running to amp.ground amp also hook up blue remote line to amp.run rca cables from ins on back of head unit to ins on amp .if you have all this already, and the blue remote wire is on external amp,and it dont work.then just try useing the internal amp.tape up ends on all wires not being used.if ideas dont work.go to ebay ,just picked up the same model for 60 bucks.it jams.good luck

With these units, the internal amplifier is an IC that fails sometimes. It can leave the rest of the unit working ok, bit will have no audio. There may be audio from the line level RCA's but not from the speaker outs. Smell the back of the unit to see if it smells burnt. Most of the time it will, but not always. The IC is usually something like a PAL007a or similar. If you are good at soldering, you can order the part, and change it yourself. If not, you will need to seek a technician to replace the part. You may also try an external amplifier and RCA's instead of fixing the IC.
