Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

2 Answers

Kenmore 80 Series (11023812100) wouldn't drain. Got it siphoned out & unplugged sock from drain hose. It still won't drain, though. I think we fried the pump. How do I access that to replace?

There is a clear plastic hose that runs from the load selection switch to the side of the washer drum. This hose connects the fill sensor to the load switch. without it being in good condition and connected properly the washer won,t get a signal that it's full.

Will not drain and spin

see this causes:
t spins, but doesn't pump
the drain line is clogged+ some sock remain, remove with pliers,+pump defective.
It doesn't spin or pump
frozen pulley pump defective, replace
It pumps, but the water returns
improve the drain line. If drain hose reach more 4 inche cut of of excess. If lower add air/gap siphon break assembly.
see diagram
God bless you

I have a kenmore 80 series washer and it won't fill up some times

It sounds like a siphon issue so nothing should be broken.
Check that the drain hose does a high loop before it goes into the drain pipe. (ie. drain hose loops above the water level inside the tub). Make sure the drain hose is not pushed too far down into the drain pipe. Also if the drain hose is sealed to the drain pipe this will create an airlock and a siphon will occur, allow air to enter between drain hose and drain pipe connection.
This should help you but if there is still a problem let me know and I'll try to assist you further.
Good luck!

Washer not pumping water out or spinning

It sounds like it's the pump. Tip the machine back and try to spin the motor where the pump connects. Make sure to unplug it first though. If it's hard to spin or it doesn't at all then the pump is stuck. Clamp off the hoses with hose clamps so you don't flood the house and remove the pump. It's just two clamps holding the hoses on and then the pump will slip right off the motor. There is probably something stuff in the pump causing it to not spin. It could be anything from a coin or a bobby pin to a sock or something. Clear it out and put it back on and it should fix your problem. I really don't think it has anything to do with the transmission. I hope this helps you out and if you have any other questions let me know. I will get a notification if you post anything to this message. Good luck.

Marrr
Ingllis washers have a bad habit of picking up socks, small items anyway in the drain protector hose, slows down water flow but ensures the items dont get sucked into the impeller.
from the underneath you shhould be able to see a clear cup sized container with a hose in the side, held in with hose clamps. check if this is filled with any clothing, undo the hose clamps and you should bew able to empth the cup with fingers

You have a siphon condition. The water is siphoning out as it fills.
Make sure you only have about 6 inches of the drain hose stuck into the house drain and make sure there is an air gap where the hose goes into the pipe so air can get into pipe. If you have the drain sealed to keep water from backing out of it, you will need to get the pipes cleaned for the washer to work properly.
The pressure of the water going through the pump during siphon is not enough to turn it on the machine.
Post back if you need more help.

Kenmore 80 series

Lyzz, someone is going to have to check the pump for debris in it. It is not hard to get off, 2 clips and two clamps. You also want to check the drain hose from the pump right at the point where it exits the washer. I have found socks and other items stuck right at that point. You are going to have to remove the cabinet to get at the pump. Yours will have a cover under the console where you will have to disconnect some hoses. I will attach a couple of photo's to guide you...Catriver..post back.
