Question about Microwave Ovens

KitchenAid Microwave Model KhhS179L

My microwave has stopped working.  It keeps returning to the home screen. then the Welcome to Kitchenaid screen where I am prompted to set the clock.  I set the clock, then it "tweaks" all over again, beeping and asking for the same information.

First I would be sure the outlet is okay. You could try plugging a lamp into that outlet and wiggling the plug to be sure it's okay.

Otherwise, it may be a bad internal connection causing a power loss, or it has a problem with the keypad or control board.

If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa:

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here:

KitchenAid Model: KHHS179L Serial No: TR3314099 Experiencing heavy sparking. Where is Wave Guide cover, and how to replace it if necessary. Oven is mounted above stove and too heavy for this old man...

In your owner's manual (available free online here) this is called the "microwave inlet cover".

See the tag in your oven cooking cavity or near the door frame for your full model number.

The cover is located in the ceiling of the oven.

You should be able to remove and clean or replace the cover without removing the oven from the wall.

The oven installation instructions and parts list are also on that page.

You can also find handy exploded views and order any needed parts and accessories by model or part number here.

My micro wave stop working f-2 is on screen

Possibly a keypad short or motherboard fault if it is a KitchenAid microwave. Beware if you have a KHMS155LSS model, a Keypad short can and will cause the microwave oven to start on its own. A real stunning defect.

My KHHS179LSS-3 will not let you control microwave from touch screen un pluged unit plug back in touch error high fail low fail appears on screen

I was afraid I needed to replace the microcomputer when my KHHS179L touchpad was unresponsive. I was able to use the ADD A MINUTE feature, so I knew the unit worked. There had been a power outage of less than a minute to my home recently (I was unaware of this until I asked the kids if they had done anything to the microwave). I popped around on and really didn't find an easy solution-my favorites. I loaded and found the answer in the FAQ's. Although the control lock out icon was NOT LIT-apparently, that power surge locked my controls. By holding the stop button for 5 seconds once and then aagain a second time, miraculously, my touchpad was restored> HOORAY!

Buttons on microwave do not work at all

Yes. The time base is important.

You could unplug it and try it again, but it may not work.

Another model's manual says, "a 120 Volt, 60 Hz,
AC only, 15- or 20-amp fused electrical supply (or circuit breaker)
is required."

Error Code

F7 problems are usually caused by poor connections. I suggest to unplug the ribbon connector off the control board and cleaned the copper connectors using alcohol or with a pencil eraser. If that does not work the touch pad may be defective.
