Question about Sharp 56DR650 56" Rear Projection HDTV

Sharp DLP No picture

I have a sharp 65DR650 DLP, I have sound but no picture, green light blinks a few times then red light blinks and the T.V turns itself off, I have replaced the lamp and still no picture,  This is a T.V. I got from Costco

    Loud whiring sound before complete failure. TV repairman says it is the color wheel. (65DR650)

    I'm having the same problem with my 56DR650. unfortunately its two
    years old and past warranty. i found some info on instructables on
    taking out the wheel but partstore.com doesn't cover that part anymore.
    I found the optical board at one other place for about what I paid for
    the TV.

    Color wheel making noises, TV finally stopped working. Sounds like Sharp has stuck quite a few customers with this problem and refuses to address it unless you want to buy $1,700 part that is more than the value of the set new and no way do I want to pay for the same issues that start in a year after purchasing. When is the class action suite starting and how do I join on? This really is poor business even for a fly by night firm, Never have another Sharp stuck into my house!

    We also have this same Costco television, I called Sharp and the error code validated it was the lamp but Sharp has this item on backorder and so far it has been 9 weeks and no ETA. I decided to call Costco.com and did you know they will fix the tv for free as long as your Costco memebership is current. It is called Costco Conciege Service and they were awesome, no questions asked, Tech Support was great!! They did have a few problems finding the lamp in stock but they also gave me the option to return, and emailed me a duplicate reciept since it was bought online ( grandfathered into old return policy since it was bought end of 2006). So after a few days of searching for a in stock lamp we decided to return last night and upgrade to a Samsung 50inch 1080p Plasma that was the same price as the Sharp, but this morning I did get that promised call from Costco.com saying they found the lamp and it was being Fed-Ex, I kindly thanked Richard and told him we decided to return but we did purchased the new tv at Costco since we love the idea that they extend the warranty of the manufacturer and their service was great.

    So for all you Costco shoppers having tv issues, give Costco a call they can save the headaches and repair your product. I will renewing my memebership for sure!!

    I have the same problem as many many others (loud hum). Does anyone know if there is a class action suit on this or how to go about getting one started.

    I also bought mine at costo.com and they found the order in their records. Just like jenaaz I can bring it back and get like $1000 refund as a cash card and i can put it towards a new tv. I am really happy with costco's service. also, thaanks to jenaaz for showing me how to deal with this.

    My Sharp 56DR650 is two years old and has completely stopped working. The repair person tried replacing the lamp and the balast but neither worked. It has hardly been used. Is there any solution?

    The last 2 weeks 3 times we turned the TV on and there is no picture. We try unplugging, pressing remote buttons and sometimes by chance (after an hour or so) a menu will appear and we can get a picture. It is only about 6 months old...warranty was 3 months :) .

I have a sharp 65DR650 and it is showing a message in the screen (replace lamp) is it something that can be replaced, if so, where can I buy the lamp and whats the aprox price???

I have a 56DR650 and it does them same thing. It is still under warranty but where i bought it, they said they can no longer fix it so they are giving my money back. the problem has to do with the color wheel inside.

the green is the reboot process and is normal.
the red light is an error code indicator.
count the blinks of the red light...it cant be 30 times (I think)
it will blink a sequence, pause, then do it again for a total of three times.
count carefully, it gives you three chances to catch the number it is blinking.

U hear grinding noises,squiling noise,before colors fades in&out,turn to Black&White picture,than died?Yes,than ur DLP tv have a colors wheel,it defective,require replacing.The colors wheel is spinning off of it motor axis.The tv tech,should be hire for changing the tv colors wheel.

I own a Samsung HL-R5067W 50'' DLP. Set is about 3 years old. Recently I heard a loud pop while viewing, picture distorted, but never went blank. I turned set off. When turned on again a loud whining noise...


Check your color wheel. There is a DIY guide for replacing the color wheel. Mine did the same thing yours is and my color wheel was all busted up. Unfortunately after replacing the color wheel my set continues to do the same thing, but this could mean I need to replace the ballast as well.

Sony LCD television will not power on.


I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
