  1. Remove the shower head from the pipe.

Repair a shower head that leaks at the swivel:
  1. Unscrew the shower-head body from the swivel-ball ring.
  2. Find the O-ring or a similar seal inside. Replace it and screw the shower head back into place.
  3. Turn off the water supply and open the faucet handle to relieve water pressure.
  4. Carefully loosen the coupling nuts at the shutoff valves and at the base of the faucet.
  5. Carefully remove the supply tubes.
  6. Remove the locknuts that hold the faucet to the sink and lift the faucet out.
  7. Clean the area where the old faucet sat.
  8. As needed, install the new spray hose and supply tubes, if any, through their holes in the sink.
  9. Set the rubber gasket that came with the faucet on the sink where it will be mounted. If no gasket is supplied, apply plumber's putty.
  10. Set the faucet into position and center it.
  11. From under the sink, attach the faucet locknuts to hold it to the sink.
  12. Reinstall the supply lines, then turn them on and test the faucet. Turn it on carefully because the line and faucet have air in them.

Why do sinks usually have silicon caulk on their underside?

Silicone-based caulk is often applied to the underside of bathroom sinks in order for the caulk to seal the gap between the sink and the wall, preventing moisture from getting underneath the sink.

You need to have the flow switch looked at. The low flow of the water to the lavs and the kitchen sink, they all have as small demand next to t bath or shower,

I am looking for replacement parts for my jacuzzi one piece toilet. Nothing in the tank seems to be standard and I am having difficulty locating a replacement douglas valve and gasket.

Any place like lowe's that sell the Jacuzze brand should be able to order the parts you need or you can go to the Jacuzzi web site and find a dealer there or order the parts from them.

ALL BASKET STRAINERS ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME. PLUMBERS PUTTY WORKS FINE. I BELIEVE ITS THE ORDER OF INSTALL THAT IS CAUSING THE LEAKS. STRAINER AND RUBBER GASKET GOES IN FROM THE TOP. IF NO RUBBER GASKET IS PROVIDED, THEN PLUMBERS PUTTY WILL SUFFICE. UNDERNEATH, ANOTHER RUBBER GASKET AND/OR PAPER GASKET, THEN THREAD ON THE NUT. TIGHTEN IT SNUGLY.

Is it difficult to replace all the oil gaskets? I have a leak and it seems to be getting worse.

Im assuming you mean the oil pan gasket? Oil pan gaskets are very time consuming to change on most vehicles, expecially front wheel drive because of the space. First crawl under and locate the oil pan (don't confuse with the bottom of the transmission lol). On my front wheel drive vehicle, I had to disconnect the AC lines to get to it (what a headache that was). Getting access to the oil pan is the hardest part but once you have access, the process is realitively easy. Drain the oil first or you will be taking a bath. remove the screws, clean the area the gasket is going to be touching, replace gasket and re torque the bolts to mfg. specs in sequential order as to not bind or pinch the gasket. Also, is it leaking from the valve cover? Valve cover gaskets are much easier to replace than oil pan gaskets.

I have a new push push drain from mac faucets, and it leaks. I have reversed the rubber gasket that goes under the sink (held on by the brass threaded ring assume that I don't use plumbers putty under the...

The order of installation starting from the top side is the flanged drain then a bead of plumber's putty, and don't skimp on the putty. On the bottom side, first the rubber gasket then the metal washer, finally the locking ring. You must use the plumber's putty between the sink\tub surface and the flange. My mom thought the same thing. She return her drain twice before she asked me why it was leaking:)
Hope this helps.

Water is leaking from bath tub drain

the most common reason for a drain to leak is that the plumbers putty around the drain where it meets the sink or tub has dried out and has a crack or void in it. Unscrew the drain from inside of the tub and check the plumbers putty. There is an inexpensive drain wrench sold at hardware stores, lowes and home depot that makes this an easy fix.
