If you are using an R4 card or similar, this is not compatible with the DSi. You will need to use an R4i or R4Ultra, see here

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

My dsi is ver 1.43e and i have a r4i-sdhc card and an error comes up error has occurred. press and hold the power button to turn the system off

Hi Talbca,

It's possible that somebody has updated the DSi console to the latest 1.4.3 firmware. A lot of flash cards, especially fake ones, no longer work on the 1.4.3 firmware. Always make sure the card does work before any console upgrade or this can happen. :-(

If you're 100% sure you have a genuine R4i card (it will show, with the hyphen [ is fake] on the box or the card if it's genuine), then try the YouTube video attached to this post. Hopefully that will fix the issue, remember you need an older DSi (pre-1.4.3) or DS Lite to apply the update.

You'd probably have to buy a new DS card to back up your games on - if you're US based I'd recommend but if you're Europe based then is the way to go. Both of these places only sell genuine cards and are authorised resellers fo popular models like the Acekard 2i, Supercard DSTWO and Cyclo DS iEvolution.

Please upvote my answer if I've been helpful, and good luck!

I have a R4i card (Revolution for DS - Gold) that worked up until lately and will not work now, but this card will work on another DSI. Any R4 I put in to this DSI comes up with the following error -...

I'm afraid the R4i Gold card is a fake, and if you've updated your console to the latest 1.4.2 or 1.4.3 firmwares it's unlikely to work. Check out R4 DS Revolution Cards at (info site) to differentiate between different versions of R4i cards and make sure you buy a genuine one!

A lot of the fakes will indeed work when you buy them but as soon as you update your console they'll stop working.

Good luck!

I got the following message on my dsi: "A error

"An Error Occurred. Press and hold POWER to turn the system off."
When do you see this error?

  1. If you see this error while playing a Nintendo DS game card game:
There are no known issues that create this error with any Nintendo DS game card games. Our experience shows that if you see this error, your game is likely a counterfeit product. To test your Nintendo DS game card, try this testing tip:

      • Try playing the game in a Nintendo DS Lite or a Nintendo DS (original style).
        • If the game still does not work, it's more likely the game card is defective and will need to be replaced.
        • If the game works in either a Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite, our experience shows that the game is likely a counterfeit product.

  2. If you see this error when there is no Nintendo DS game card inserted into your system:
      • If you have not already done so, power the system off and then back on to see if this resolves the issue. If the issue persists after the system has been powered down, please call our Consumer Department at 1-800-255-3700 to speak to one of our representatives.

Nintendo dsi error everywhere

Contact Nintendo for this problem,
it looks like the firmware went corrupted,
maybe some one has used a bad flash
adapter to play backuped games.

Don't tell them the part of maybe some one
used a bad flash adapter, becouse they then won't help you anymore or will cost you alot
of mony to get it fixed.

Also try to reset the dsi to the standard settings, this can wipe everything on the dsi,
making backups is recomended.
A factory reset on the DSi can be performed by holding down every button minus those of the d-pad and turning the system on.

R4: An error has occured

The DSi has a firewall. The DSi blocks your card. Not a new SD, but a new R4, mate.

Can't play ds fireline (100 games in 1) in dsi

The DSi blocks all flashcards that were released before it. Your card is one of those blocked cards, so you can't do much except return that and buy a DSi-compatible cart online. As for the region, the DSi hasn't been hacked yet so region changing isn't possible at the moment.
