Look up you laptop name and model in google. Search for specifications for that model. It will say what hard drives work.

Follow manufacturers instruction in the user guide.

I have a gateway matxhrn e series 2300 made in05 it has no hard drive what would be the best hard drive to put in it.

The big question is, is it IDE or SATA. You can tell if you look at the connector. If it's long with a lot of holes then its IDE if it's two separate bars with leads on it then it's SATA. If this is a laptop then you need a 2.5" drive, otherwise you'll need a 3.5". I recommend getting a 7200RPM drive but you can get by with a 5400. Don't go lower than that.

Removing the hard drive from my ASUS B43J-B1B

Lol, yeah the black plastic tab is very common in laptops. It's there to give you leverage to slide the HDD out of the connector. You can also just put the palm of you hand on the drive with a little pressure and give it a good **** and it should come out of the connector. Manufacturers are very good about putting "warrenty void if sticker removed" stickers on parts they don't want you to touch FYI.

My laptop is a used Toshiba satellite and it needs a operating system it won't even load to the desktop screen I don't have a disk either what do I do

The best thing would be a partition on the factory-installed hard drive that contains the OS and recovery data, you can boot to that. If it's a new hard drive, then you need a new operating system (OS) for the laptop.
You'll need to buy and install Windows 7. Put the Win7 disc in the laptop's CD drive, and have the most experienced computer person you know do the rest. Be patient with that person.
The place where you buy Windows 7 can probably do all of the setup work for you for a nominal fee.

Need to unlock gateway 7330GZ hdd

So who put the password on it? 99% of the time if there is a Hard Drive Password and the person in possession of the laptop don't know the password, the laptop is stolen. The original owner put the password lock on the hard drive to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data. The owner could have set the password remotely once the laptop was stolen. Your system is toast. The only remedy is to get the original owner to remove the password.

I cant format the hard drive

Hi golkimo...
Sometimes you cannot format the hard drive that is in the computer...I don't know why.
But what I do is put the hard drive in an external hard drive holder and plug it into another guest computer and it will then let you format the hard drive from the guest computer.
Then reinstall back into your computer and reinstall the operating system.
Please take time to rate me

How do you take apart a gateway zx4800-06 all in one computer to put a new hard drive in. I took the case screws off but the cover won't budge and I don't want to take a chance of damaging...

You don't need to take apart all the back cover. Only the small rectangule part where the back support is located. The hard drive is located under the small cover.

How do you replace a hard drive on toshiba 1715 xcds

Before starting you will need to make sure you have a small cross-head screwdriver. Also make sure that you do not have wet hands!
Power off the laptop and unplug it. Turn it over so that the base is facing upwards. Now look for a panel with a Hard Disc Drive symbol on it, the symbol will look something like this:
Remove the screws from this panel (making sure to put them somewhere safe so that you son't lose them). You should then see something like this:
Its them simply a matter of sliding the disc drive out from the contacts (in the photo above you would slide it to the left, if it doesn't seem to work one way try the other, it may need a firm push, but don't be too rough). One the drive has been slid away from the contacts, simply lift it out.
The drive will almost certainly be in a "cradle", a metal panel screwed to the hard disc which keeps it in place when the computer is assembled (see photo below).
You will need to remove the cradle, which will involve removing about 4 screws from the long edges. Do not lose the cradle or the screws. Also take note of the orientation of the cradle with respect to the hard disc, as to put the new one in, you will need to put the cradle on the new drive before putting the drive into the laptop.
Just follow the above instructions in reverse to put the new drive in. If you need further guidance, the tutorial below is quite good (its where I got the images from):
Good luck.

Toshiba laptop hdd1/ssd1 password i don't know

You can try calling Toshiba's laptop support line but they will require proof of ownership. If they can't get it removed then your only option is to get a new hard drive. Reason is because when a hard drive password is put on a hard drive its programmed into the circuitry in the hard drive so if you don't remember the password then you can't get past that screen.

Hi, i buy used laptop L355D-S7815 without hard disk i put a new 1 work fine but i don`t know if must have a caddy or something else because feel like is loose please help. thanks.

Some laptops need a caddy, but if the hard drive can fit in without a caddy then don't worry about it. If the drive is a bit loose then wrap or add some paper around the hard drive to stop it moving about.
