Check to make sure the distance between the magnet and the sensor is 5mm or less. Also, check to make sure the magnet is lined up with the correct spot on the sensor. Make sure the computer is pushed all the way into the harness so that the contacts are in place. Lastly, inspect the wire for any breaks or fraying.

I have a hawk 250cc Chinese dirt bike with 80mph on the speedometer but I only can get it to 50mph what could I do to get it to 80mph

Speedometers always go a lot higher than the maximum speed of the bike. In the case of your Hawk 250 the quoted top speed is 74.5 mph. In my experience of riding trail bikes and competitive enduro, you will only reach it under ideal conditions. That is usually a following wind, downhill, with a light rider, riding one handed with your head on the tank. NOTE - This isn't a very safe way to ride! The main problem with dirt bikes is the riding position which is sitting high up like a flag in the wind which causes extreme wind resistance which will easily know 20 mph off your top speed.

your bike also needs to be correctly set up, and I doubt that Chinese engineering workmanship is that good. at 80 mph things can go bad very quickly.

I have recently charged the battery on my Triumph TT 600. The speedo has gone into kph. How can I change it to mph?

Try this....should switch it back and forth

At the odometer setting (the one that shows your total miles you have on the bike) press and hold the "select" button for about 8 seconds. MPH goes first to KPH. Press and hold again and your radiator setting goes from F to C. Press and hold again, C stays put and KPH changes back to MPH. Press and hold again and you're back to MPH and F.

My friends 2009 Honda CBR 1000 shows about 8mph less than my 2010 Yamaha Majesty. Are there know issues with the Majesty? Could there be something wrong with my bike's speedometer? I just bought it 2...

Sometimes there is some variance between identical new motorcycles. I had friend claim that his BMW speedometer was accurate and my Honda was off by 5 mph. We had the same brand(Dunlop) and size of tire. I changed my tire, same brand(Dunlop), same size, different "style" and now both speedometers read the same speed . This tire was the same number size but mounted stood taller than the old tire. What my friend failed to realize was that his cycle came stock with a Metzeler so he was not reading accurately either. So do not dismay, your friend may not have the correct height tire on his bike. You will have to make some speed runs past on of those signs that tell you how fast you are going and see how accurate your machine is. My 2009 Suzuki DR200 reads 2 MPH slow by the police speed signs.

How to add air to the rear shock

What make and model of shock?

Typically a shock will have a schraeder valve somewhere on it. There are a couple of brands of very high pressure/low capacity air pumps designed specifically for shocks ...

for example: http://www.bicycling.com/gear/topic/1,7987,s1-14-48-0,00.html

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&rlz=1R2ADFA_enUS360&q=rear+shock+mountain+bike+pump&aq=f&aqi=&oq=&fp=7da014c016d00ed9

Your weight, riding style, preferences, shock and bike design will dictate the optimum amount of pressure to maintain in the shock and its rebound damping setting (if available).

The specialness of the pump isn't so much its high pressure capacity but the ability to remove the pump without losing significant air pressure. They tend to be very small and light so carrying one isn't much of a burden.

I've had bikes go years with no need for adjustment and then on a really cold night in the garage go completely limp, or not. There's no pattern. I pump them up and ride for a few more years.

Odometer stops working at 33 mph

This is a very strange problem indeed. I'm guessing you are doing this test by just spinning the wheel, not actually riding. In any case, make sure the sensor itself is not loose. This could be moving from the vibration at higher speeds. Thanks
