I'll try to describe the threading procedure but a picture is worth a thousand words. You work the thread from right to left with the needle up. Put the spool of thread on the spindle at the top and place the spool holder on with it oriented to have side that is closest to the size of the spool closest to the spool. Pull the thread through the hole in the "peg" on top of the machine. Then bring the thread down to the "bell" and up under the catch and over to the other side of the bell. Next bring the thread down through the guide to the tension knob. Bring the thread up on the left side of the tension knob and lift the spring loop until the thread catches on the lips. Pull the thread through the guide that you used coming down from the spool and bring the thread through the hole on the guide at the top of the needle bar. Bring the thread down through the guide that is even with the tension knob. Then pull the thread slightly from right to left so that it enters the notch on the guide just above the needle. Then push the thread through the needle from front to back (or use the needle threader).

Singer has the manual available for download here: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/aa0c55f35d4cd136957871417b8e66e112b2015d.pdf . See page 6 (page 8 of the PDF) for a picture of threading the needle.

I hope this helps.

How to thread childs singer zig zag sewing machine

You didn't give the model name for the machine; however, if it's a Pixie or Pixie Plus, you can download the user's manual that shows you how to thread it and wind a bobbin from the Singer Sewing Machine site. The number listed above your question is not a legitimate model number; it might be a serial number.

Singer Touch and Sew Model 648 will not zigzag

There is an arm in the head that does the zig zag movement and attaches to the needle bar with a pin. If that isn't connected zig zag won't work at all.

I have a Singer Special Zig Zag Model 418. I can

More than likely you have a broken vertical shaft gear.

When you turn the handwheel you should see the sewing hook moving under the bobbin case.

If not, take it to a sewing repair person and it should cost somewhere around $100 to repair.
