Question about Vizio Televison & Video
My 47inch vizio went out after a power surge. The tv would not turn back on when using the remote and also when using the remote. I opened the back, nothing smelled burn. I plug the power cable after I opened it, it turned back on. I closed the cover and it would not turn back on. After a few tries, I closed the back and the tv worked for a few weeks until I turned the breakers off because I was working on electrical in the house. The tv would not turn back on. I did the same thing, opened the back and it turned on once and that was it. It never turned back on again, the vizio emblem never turn orange when plugged. I ordered the power board first because it was cheaper ($47), still nothing. I ordered the main board ($119) and still nothing. The emblem still does not work. Help.

My vizio recently did the same exact thing. Vizio sent an HDTV tech out to fix it and it was the power board. He put a new board in (took 15 min) and the tv works like new.

You need to troubleshoot the problem and I am not trying to sell you parts, so please read my guides first.
Since the sound and picture went out, the problem can be the power supply (right now the 5vdc tsandby power supply is working) or main board, or backlight inverter board.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

SOURCE: I purchased 47" vizio and
I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble. To eliminate bad surge protector, kindly plug the TV directly into the socket. If problem still persists, then it would confirm an internal failure and needs repair. Unfortunately, there is no small fix for the same. If you have electronics repair experience and would be able to perform the repair, revert and i would be able to follow up.This is most probably an issue with power supply board. Bad caps often cause the same problem. Do provide with the model number so that i could tell you the components that needs to be tested and replaced,if find faulty.
Thanks and Regards
