Whirlpool Quiet II buring smell

TAKE IT BACK RIGHT AWAY. if im correct switch i mite not be but i think that year ford owned jag. ford transmissions are known for having bad cooling system(over heating) for the trans causing bad vavle boxs in the trans causing that buring smell. you do not want to pick up that cost out of pocket. i did:(

You are usually looking at $500-$800 depending on who is going it. For a buring smell I would first look at the condenser fan motor seizing up. If it is running properley then the relay on the compresser may have burnt up in which case you can install a 3in1 hard start kit and see if you can get the compresser to run before spending money to replace it. May need a belt replacement. Belt could have gotten wet and slipped and burned a spot in it. I had one of these and replace a locked up water pump and belt once. Start with the capacitor. It has a funny smell when they go bad. The motor will smell bad as well when it burns up.

Your motor is tired.
Replace the motor or the washer.

i would consider getting aanother washer.if it keeps doing this the machine will cost you more than its worth. time to call a repairman in again id guess..

The buring smell could be coming from the belt, try looking to see if the belt i burnt or broken

How old is the washer?Sounds old.

Did you leave the door open? check the light socket for shorts ..check the door switch the light will go off when to door is closed..

Sounds like the clutch is slipping but sometime catching. Or maybe the transmission is almost gone. Is there a burning smell? If so, probably clutch.
