John, I really wish I could help with your furnace problem, however, it's being categorized under the vacuum repair section, a Dyson DC28 to be exact. I'm pretty good at vacuum problems but I really don't know all that much about furnaces. Sorry. I'd suggest going under a home heating section to see if you can find more help.

Sounds like you have one or more sequencers that are burnt out and stuck in the on position. You should have 3 4 or 5 of these guys in your rig. Small place multi armed electrical switch about 2 inches wide. 4 to 6 wires off of each one. I'd look there first

Shop vac doesn't work. Does my shop vac have a thermo fuse?

Contact the manufacturer of device. They may help you. If not, make sure that current is reaching the on/off switch and that the power is reaching the motor - if power gets to motor and still nada then the issue is probably with the brushes not making proper contact with the commutator.

Would like to know if there is a reset button on the Electrolux Upright Vacuum Cleaner! Model # EL5010 Type :A-1

Hi, check the troubleshooting on page 19 of the manual. I does,'t mention a reset button but I would imagine that it has a self-resetting thermal switch which could take half an hour for the motor to cool down (fairly common).

Why after cleaning my thermos with bleach does it no longer holds heat?

The bleach would not have affected the inside of the thermos, but it may have deteriorated the seal of the cap? Try filling it with water, cap it and turn it upside down and leave it for a few hours, see if you get a leak. Or you could submerge it in the sink and look for air bubbles.

Will not turn on

This is often caused by overheating and overheating is often caused by blocked filters. Wash the filters and let them dry naturally (do not put back in the machine until they are fully dry). The machine may work once it has been allowed to cool down properly. Also check the fuse in the machine's plug.

UltraLux keep overheat

1. Check the hose for blockages. Do this by dropping a coin, marble, or other small round object down one end, raising hose and letting it fall out the other end. It can usually be cleared by attaching hose to blower, pointing other end outside, and turning on.
2. Check for blockage in the power head elbow.
3. Check the afterfilter. It's locater under the plastic cover on the top of the back of the vacuum.
4. If you have fine dust in your area, make sure the dial on top is set at the smallest dot. This will allow the bag to fill fuller.
Regarding fine dust, never use it to vacuum up sheetrock dust. It will go right through the bag and into the motor, quickly ruining it.

If none of these problems exist, take it in to have it checked out. Overheating is normally due to a blockage of some sort.

Powerforce stops;have to wait 30 min or so for it to come back on -low power remains on -- there is no clogging.

What is happening is the vacuum is overheating so the thermo fuse shuts i down until it cools off.

Does it have good sucking power? Check and clean all the filters. Especially the external hepa filter I beleive all these models have. You can even remove the external hepa filter on the side and see if it runs then. If it does you can bet its clogged and is restricting the motor exhaust.

I have an older Electrolux canister vacuum - model #2100 and the temperature sensor shuts down the motor. How to I take apart and clean?

Check to be certain the thermo lite is on and not the bag full indicator. The thermo detector is very reliable, but the bag fill valve often fails. If it is the thermo, check your hose and wand for blockage by dropping a coin through them, before opening the vac itself.Otherwise you may have a bad set of motor bearings causing the motor to overheat due to its age.
The 2100 and all its canister cousins made since 1982 seem to be prone to failure of the dial valve on top cracking internally. The causes the bag full indicator to come on and the vac to shut down.
To open the vac you will need to slide the locking keys and bumpers forward with the bag door open. Do this with a set of pliers. Once done the vac will open from front to back like a **** shell. Be careful to look at the underside hinge are of the bag door before separating and mark and locate the wiring harness . This vac only goes back together one way, perfectly assembled it pops together with ease. If any piece is out of line it`s like a RUBIKS Cube. Take your time . OEM parts are only available through an AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair shop

I have an upright, but use it as a canister. It will start sometimes and vac for about half and hour and then it will quit. I can't get it started again even after it cools off.

First check the hose and down by the brush roll for a clog. If there is a clog, it will cause the motor to overheat and the theremo protector will cause the motor to shut off until it has cooled. Now if it won't turn back on, the thermo protector may have gone bad, or the motor itself has gone bad.

A clog or partial clog is what causes the motor to overheat, then a thermo protector will cut off and the motor will stop until it cools down. So either you do have a clog, in the hose or down by the brush roll. If they are clear, and the filters are clean, then maybe the thermo protector is bad and needs to be replaced.
