Fill it with a solution of distilled water and white vinegar and let it soak for 24 hours. Then rinse it out a few times with distilled water and only use distilled water going forward.

How do I know when my IR4500SC iron has enough water as it is filled sitting flat?

Fill then stand it up to view the fill level. Unless you see a warning I doubt you can overfill it. Just top off the tank and go.

Conair GS95 upright steamer will not steam just beeps

There is a float in the tank thy after 3 weeks stopped floating. Symptoms include; getting hot, no steam, light lights on wand but no sound or steam production. Mines covered under replacement policy with Amazon but temporarily I was able to use a metal fork, to slide on magnet up and carefully put the tank back into unit. It works. I'd imagine a better fix , get that plastic top off of tank without destroying it, unscrew float, and see why the boyancy is off? Adding more foam or cork just to stop it from going down. Of course I don't suggest to rig it in the up full position just in case it breaks

Water leaking out of iron no steam I have a Hamilton Beach Steam Storm Model 14560 Lost manuel

The Use and Care Guide for the Hamilton Beach Iron can be downloaded here:

If water is leaking out of the iron:

• Do not overfill the water tank.

• If steam ironing, is Adjustable Steam Knob in a steam position that matches Temperature Control Dial steam range? Did the iron have enough time to preheat?
• If dry ironing, make sure the Adjustable Steam Knob is in the DRY IRON position.

What happens if I use CLR in my steam iron? I have an expensive European style iron which is no longer producing steam. I have bought an iron descaler/cleaner and have repeated its use. I tried the...

The steam tank may not be heating because of mineral deposits in the tank. But also do this check first. Open up the tank reservoir cold, and drain all water out, (is it clean inside there when you shine flashlight in there? Rinse with clear filtered water only (low minerals).

Do not use CLR or anything agressive in there. You should have the main unit in full steam mode and the iron control also in full steam mode. Leave one tablespoon of water in the tank, put back together and let the pressure build. Put a clean towel on your ironing board and when iron is at full pressure and heat, hit the burst of steam and look at what comes out of the sole plate. If you see lots of white deposits look at the sole plate and see if the white chunks are coming out steam holes.

When using iron, run it till steam/water tanks are dry, the burst of steam is used in this case to clean the iron of all standing water. Pull the reservoir and allow to cool...once tank is cool drain it as well. Doing this several times should help purge unit of the heavy mineral deposits.

Rowenta Steam Iron Leak

I have purchased two Rowenta irons. Both have the problem with water leakage. The entire iron looses all of it's water....both in the stand up position and the sitting down position. This happened after a couple of months for both items. I contacted Rowenta and they never responded. I will never purchase another item from them. Obviously, the irons must be defective. I'm going to contact consumer affairs.
